There are a few important things I believe you want to know about me, but I want you to know that I would like to learn about you too. Here I will share my story and then you write back and tell me just what love inside you led you to consider becoming an altruistic living donor. It is a very loving and kind thing to do and I want to know where that love in you came from. I am 34 years old, married for eleven years with two children; one eleven and one ten years old. I’m a teacher. As a matter of fact I had just gotten the teaching job of my dreams when I learned that my kidneys were failing and that I needed to prepare to start dialysis. My nature is to persevere in the face of adversity, but nobody just moves on when battling chronic kidney disease (CKD). For one reason, you are reminded of the precarious situation facing you every day when you attach yourself to the dialysis machine that’s keeping you alive. You can’t just go with the flow fighting CKD, it is the type of disease that flows downward into the grave. No, I have had to keep my wits about me, fight like crazy to stay alive and figure out a path toward receiving a transplant. My wonderful sister and I racked our brains night and day wondering when I would get the call saying the clinic found a compatible donor. Finally I chose to come here to this page and find you myself because I do not want to die. Yes, I came here to ask you to please be my donor. I need you to please give me a second chance at life. Yes, I want to live free of dialysis, as a mom, wife and teacher of the fifth grade math and science class – all of whom need me. Please say, YES you are willing to be my donor. Please! The more I research about living donation, the better I feel about asking you for help because the science is clear, people can live a full life with one healthy kidney. Living donors do not sacrifice their longevity to save the life of somebody else. Both human beings can live their lifespan with one healthy kidney. It is a wonderful to have learned this. Also, I’m happy to be able to tell you that only 33 in 10,000 people require a transplant in their life time after being a living donor and better still is the fact that they are put at that top of the list based on their living donor status. These are just a few things I have learned, and there is so much more to share with you. Will you drop me a message here on this page? I would LOVE to talk about it with you. My condition is not good right now, so please take action. Please give me a chance to regain my health. You can -- and I need you to help me. Sincerely,
Sherina
