-- had a lot of surgeries?? addicted to opioids from the hospital or the doctors? Please read this --

I had just turned 16 upon my diagnosis of Crohn's Disease, and back then they still used Demerol as the thinking was since it was a different kind of opioid, the addiction rate in patients compared to morphine would be significantly lower. Well, as we know today, it had the opposite effect on the patients for whom it was prescribed. Especially the intravenous sort. I was in the hospital 8 wks and 8 wks I was on the Demerol. Part of that time, after my small bowel resection, I was out on a PCA Pump, where I controlled how much medicine I was getting. I was A 16 year old stuck in the hospital over the holidays. Of course I used more than I needed. By that time it was way too late anyway. I was already so addicted that the morphine they tried to switch me to after the surgery had 0 effect.

By the time I was 17, two years after diagnosis, I was using fentanyl patches and subbucal formulations.

I'm now 32 and even though I am off the oxycontin, Vicodin, Demerol, fentanyl and morphine capsules, I still have to take ____ for my chronic pain, most of which stems from my post operatives. I stopped counting at around 25. Mostly anal/rectal fistulae with a couple partial colectomies and sm. Bowel resections.

I'm in the process of radically altering my diet and promoting gut flora...I meditate daily, spend sometimes damn near entire days at the park with my best friend..my border collie, and despite what I have been thru, and the sacrifices Ive had to make (no drinking, strict anti-inflammatory diet, infusions every couple of weeks, and having my personality altered) to name a few, I'm a generally happy guy who lives a pretty normal life. I just have a hell of a lot of good stories to tell 🤪🤭😲

I'm sharing this not for pitty but with the hopes that someone with a similar story will share theirs... And of course tag me in it 😉..
Cause it truly is liberating to share whatever you've got bc spoiler alert, each person on this group page has at LEAST one.

My website is down right now for upgrades n maintenance but stoo by sometime.

Making small changes to your diet can put you on the right track and can make you feel 💯 in nothing mind and body.

Need to change your diet but unsure where to start?

I.) Eliminate dairy products. Whole foods has goats milk, and goat cheese. Also available is almond milk chocolate pudding for a snack...
II.) Eliminate bleached flour, genetically modified foods and replace it with organics. Cut out soy, nuts, eggs, add cinnamon 😋. Eat more fruit for snacks or whenever.

That's a great place to start... just remember that it's okay to start small as far as changing your diet. And the more you can make healthy diet decisions, the better you'll feel inside and out.

Thats all, folks!

‘Tell me Where it Hurts...’

‘...Everywhere. Joints; knees, ankles, wrists, my back, my hips, shoulder, right elbow, oh, yeah, and when you’ve had a perianal Crohn's disease-related abscess incision & drainage, not to mention delineation, debridement, unroofing, multiplied by 25 or so in ten years, you begin to...well...hurt all the time.

I don’t assume to receive any special benefits, I only write honestly about pain, as I do, so that others know what comes with Crohn’s/Colitis/IBD. It’s one job of an advocate. Writing relatable mateial to his/her targeted group so that they may feel some sort of solidarity, a bit less alone, on their own. And when your doctor tells you to seek all alternatives, as the normal treatments have been exhausted, yet they won't recommend any alternative treatments, what does one do?' He puts up with comments from family members who naturally assume that because he had an accident, he must have been high. No, I was in fact, not high. But sometimes I wished to God I was. Why not, right? Everyone already assumes this is the case.’ “And whatever people say, there is right, there is wrong, there is nothing in between.” - Hercule Poirot
