“Did you know that ultrasounds cannot accurately predict how big or small your baby will be? Did you know that ultrasounds accuracy is less than 50%? Did you know that ACOG (American College of Obstetrics And Gynecology) notes that big babies (fetal macrosomia) cannot actually be diagnosed until after a baby is born due to these inaccuracies, and that a suspected big baby is not a legitimate reason for a cesarean? About 57% of women told they may have a big baby, but only 17% of women who birth big babies actually have cesareans. Our bodies can do amazing things and our pelvis is made to open up and allow the passage of our babies through. This happens due to a hormones called relaxin, which releases in large quantities during labor. Babies fat squishes and they mold through as well. Did you know that being on your back while laboring and pushing can close off your pelvis by up to 30% as well?!”
