This week members of MHAA had the privilege of attending the annual American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Congress in Houston, TX. Over 7,000 people attended the conference throughout the week and MHAA was able to network with other students and leaders from across the United States and across the world. Additionally, MHAA was able to do some exploring around Houston including the country’s largest rodeo with a special Rascal Flatts performance. Thank you to everyone who made this trip possible!

During the first two weeks of classes, members of our second-year residential cohort had the opportunity to present in front of a panel of judges about their Summer Residency experiences. Students were judged based on their presentation skills and ability to communicate what they did this summer into a 15 minute presentation with a 10 minute question and answer section. The top three scorers moved on to the “final round” of presentations and had the opportunity to present in front of a panel of judges, faculty, and students. The results of the final round were determined to be:

1. Natalia Velazquez (Penn Highlands)
2. Ryan Sorbo (Mercer)
3. Ethan Glass (Merck)

We are excited to welcome our new cohorts to the Penn State MHA program. On August 25, our incoming residential and online cohorts had the opportunity to participate in a week-long onboarding hosted by faculty introducing them to the program. Today, both residential cohorts spent some time outside of the Keller Building to hike up Mt. Nittany. Penn State MHA is starting the year off right!

Ethan enjoyed having the opportunity to work on and support a clinical trial for patients with HIV across 15 countries. Congratulations Ethan!
