So here we are…caught in the spiral of falsehoods in the “new age.” Are we prepared for this challenge?
The Veil of Greed as Evil: How Manipulation Masquerades as Virtue
Evil rarely shows up wearing horns. It cloaks itself in charm, authority, righteousness - even compassion. History and current events reveal a haunting pattern: the most destructive forces often rise not with brute force, but with veiled intentions that seduce, blind, and manipulate the masses. Evil, when cleverly disguised, appears as a savior before it strikes as a tyrant.
Historical Deception: Hi**er and the Promise of Restoration
Adolf Hi**er rose to power under the guise of national revival. Promising to restore Germany’s pride and economic stability, he exploited the country’s despair after World War I. Millions rallied behind his message, blinded by patriotic fervor, unable or unwilling to see the genocidal intentions hidden beneath. The result was catastrophic: the Holocaust and a world at war.
Modern Manipulation: North Korea’s Cult of Personality
Kim Jong-un maintains control through a carefully crafted illusion of strength and benevolence. State-controlled media paints him as a heroic leader, shielding citizens from the brutal repression and starvation that define their reality. The regime’s veil is so thick, many within its borders remain unaware of their own suffering, manipulated into reverence for their oppressor.
Contemporary Echoes: Misinformation in Democracies
Even in modern democracies, manipulation thrives under the guise of ideology or moral superiority. Charismatic leaders use fear, identity politics, and disinformation to sow division and gather power. Followers, believing they’re defending truth or justice, sometimes become pawns in a deeper game of control. When people are emotionally charged, they often fail to question the motives of those they idolize.
Why We Fall for It
Greed exploits human needs—belonging, safety, purpose. When someone or something promises to meet those needs, we lower our guard. The veil is woven from what we want to believe, and once we accept the illusion, we often defend it—sometimes viciously.
The Antidote: Discernment and Courage
To see through the veil, we must question appearances, examine motives, and listen to the quiet discomfort that warns us something is off. Evil hates scrutiny. It thrives in silence, in groupthink, in blind allegiance. Only by facing truth—however uncomfortable—can we resist being lured by the mask.
As history and current events continue to prove, evil doesn’t come uninvited. It knocks politely, smiles warmly, and waits for us to open the door. Our job is to see beyond the veil.
