Cedar fever might be winding down, but oak and grass pollen are ramping up. If you wait until you're miserable to do something about it, you've already lost. Here's the smart approach:
- Check if your plan covers allergy testing. If over-the-counter meds aren't cutting it, allergy testing and immunotherapy (shots or drops) may be covered as treatment, not just a convenience.
- Stock up on allergy meds now. Most antihistamines, nasal sprays, and eye drops are FSA/HSA eligible, so you can use pre-tax dollars if you have those accounts.
- Know the difference between urgent care and ER coverage. If allergies trigger asthma or severe reactions, urgent care is your friend, same-day treatment at a fraction of ER costs.
The goal? Breathe easy without spending a fortune. A little prep now beats suffering (and overspending) later.
Tag someone who's already sneezing.
