No matter what you’ve got cooking this , remember to prioritize safety. In crowded kitchens and around deep fryers, accidents can happen fast. Each year around Thanksgiving, there’s an increase in cooking-related burn injuries, and unattended cooking is the primary cause, according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Follow these tips for what to avoid if you or someone else needs .

If you suffer a mild or first-degree burn, the affected area may swell or turn red. You can treat these burns at home with simple first aid steps:

🧼Clean the area with soap and cool water.
🧴Apply a thin layer of ointment.
🩹Dress the wound with sterile non-stick gauze.
💊Take over-the-counter medication to manage pain.

Sayyid Kanu knows the importance of an active lifestyle. He regularly engages in pickleball, gym workouts and bowling. As the Director of Radiology, he also knows a picture is worth a thousand words.

During a recent bench press, he heard a pop and felt a sharp pain across his chest. His MRI confirmed the fear, a complete tear of his pectoralis major tendon. This type of injury required more than rest; it required expert intervention.

Dr. Matthew Weldon, Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in sports injuries, vocalized that Sayyid had suffered a 6cm retraction of his pectoralis major muscle and the injury would require surgery to "anchor" the muscle back into place. The procedure prevents the muscle from retracting any further and promotes proper recovery in the correct position. Following surgery, Sayyid was placed in a sling for several weeks to keep the arm immobilized so initial healing could begin. Then Sayyid was cleared to begin an extensive rehabilitation program to regain motion and restore function and strength.

"The entire process has been exceptional. I am fortunate to work with an outstanding team, including outpatient physical therapy for range of motion and strengthening. Their level of expertise has significantly accelerated my recovery timeline," stated Sayyid. He is now focused on returning to his leisure outlets.

Dr. Weldon emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive plan. "It's gratifying to help my patients get back to doing what they love to do," stated Dr. Weldon.

Within our system, we have seven NICUs spanning from Level II to Level IV, and a neonatal transport team, meaning that regardless of hospital of birth, we are able to get infants the care they need when they need it. It's a spooktacular time of year to celebrate growing families. This adorable little pumpkin is just one of many delivered at our hospital and cared for by our highly skilled Level II NICU Team. Our NICU provides supervised care to newborns who are delivered early or with health concerns.

Each day, our compassionate team provides family-centered care that focuses on our little ones growing stronger. From breastfeeding support and skin-to-skin contact to neonatal transport and ongoing parental support and guidance, we proudly walk beside our families.

While is often misperceived as a women’s disease, 1 in 726 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, says Dr. Ali Mazloom, a radiation oncologist with HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress.

"Most men don't think they can develop breast cancer," Dr. Mazloom notes. "So, when they get a nodule on their breast or start having signs that can be attributed to breast cancer, like ni**le discharge, they ignore it."
