Anyone can “like” the page, both family and friends, friends of friends, etc. Here is Christie’s story:
We began this journey on May 5, 2005; after months of trying to figure out why her lymph nodes were swollen, she was diagnosed with ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia). Her treatments started 3 days later, and after about 5 months of solid chemo treatments, we were done. The Doc orders a bone marrow test to just check it out to make sure everything was looking okay. They discovered a high activity of NK cells (natural killer) in her marrow. This is an unusual reading,so they re-tested her bone marrow on January 16, 2014 and discovered abnormal chromosomes, which further indicated her ALL was on its way back. This is a very early discovery of the relapse. The new treatment plan is for the same chemo treatment (HyperCVAD) that she had the last time; but this time we will add a stem cell (bone marrow) transplant. That is IF, and I say IF we have a match donor. We need everyone, both family and friends to get tested to see if they are a match. We did this the last time but we didn’t have a match. We need to try again; with everyone, even if you are just a friend, you never know if you could be THE ONE. Not only that, we ask that you join the list for others. There are lots of Christie’s out there that need a life-saving bone marrow match. Here are two links with more information:

We will be needing blood donated in her name. If you are a healthy friend or family member with Blood Type A+, we would like her to receive your blood rather than a random donor. Please visit MD Anderson Blood Bank for more information, and contact me for her medical record number so we can arrange for this and the timing. If you are not A+, no worries, you can still donate blood and put it in her name and she will receive the credit for the blood and you will help out another family. http://www.mdanderson.org/how-you-can-help/donate-blood/index.html
The most common question we have is, how can you help? Well, here’s the list:
• We will need volunteers to help sit with her at the hospital
• We will need volunteers to sit with her at home, be willing and able to immediately get her to the MD Anderson ER if any symptoms of infection or other complications occur
• Volunteers to let the dogs out to run and play
• Regular blood and/or platelet donations
• Occasional (healthy) meals for her and Bryan when she gets home from the hospital
• Monetary donations since she will be out of work without disability insurance
• Most of all, your prayers and support so we can kick cancer’s A$$! I will work to keep the page updated anytime we have new news to spread; and to let everyone know how she is doing and feeling. There are a few fundraisers that are in the works, and when we get more info, I will get it posted to the Team page.
