Five star-rated MD in Functional Medicine-- finding and healing the root cause of chronic conditions. We ask for payment at the time of service.
We’re here for everyone who really is looking to make a difference in their health. Whether it's a stubborn chronic condition that just hasn't been properly diagnosed or a commitment to be running around with your great grandkids, we support patients who truly value their health. Functional medicine looks for the root cause of issues rather than treating just the symptoms. We do advanced laboratory testing that goes far beyond insurance-restricted primary care to see a bigger picture and get clues as to WHY a condition recurs. We believe the body knows how to heal itself and will do so if given the proper conditions. So, we treat as much as possible with diet, lifestyle, dietary supplements and environmental corrections. We even try to ween patients off of unnecessary pharmaceuticals whenever possible. Rather than discouraging patients who are trying to self-diagnose or self-heal, we encourage them and partner with them, bringing decades of expertise to filter and balance the health journey. We do not take insurance, but we give patients what they need for insurance reimbursement. We supply a superbill receipt patients file with their insurance companies. Many of our laboratory tests are covered by different insurance plans and visits are often fully reimbursed for patients who have out-of-network benefits.

Before her career in Functional Medicine, Dr. Winstrom was a beloved family physician to thousands of families for over 25 years, known as “The Good Old Fashioned Family Doc.”
She always went deep with her patients and was known for taking the time to get to know them and hear their stories. She has always believed patients know their bodies best and she has seen first hand how bodies can heal themselves if given a healthy environment.
However, she grew frustrated as she watched her profession veer off course. As the pharmaceutical industry played a larger and larger role in physician training and the insurance companies rewarded quick fixes, she saw preventative medicine taken over by acute care objectives. Primary Care physicians started to simply treating symptoms and overprescribe drugs. Doctors were hardly even asking what patients were eating anymore and patients were getting quick fixes that caused deeper problems over time.
While deeply researching one patient’s case, Dr.Winstrom discovered a community of likeminded peers in the emerging field of Functional Medicine. This fledgling discipline was getting back to the heart of why she became a doctor.
Functional Medicine embodies a commitment to finding the root cause of chronic conditions in lifestyle, diet, and environment. It looks beyond the symptoms to ask, “But WHY does this patient keep having these symptoms?”
Functional Medicine combines science and natural approaches. It follow the most current research and employs advanced laboratory testing to find out what is going on with a patient’s individual body, but lets the body heal itself with the right adjustments for proper nutrition, lifestyle, and diet.
Functional Medicine also helps healthy patients optimize for new levels of health goals.
For over a decade, she has been putting herself through an ongoing deepening of her medical education as new research comes to light, new diagnostic tools become available, and treatments emerge that really make a long term difference for patients.
Combined with her passion for truly listening to patients, her knowledge in the field of functional medicine has made her what many patients call a “doctor detective” who is not afraid of complex cases.
Dr. Winstrom loves that this field is constantly growing and requires non-stop learning and research. It keeps feeling alive.
She has discovered a specific passion in healing for mental acuity.
Giving the gift of mental clarity by helping patients clean up the root causes of chronic fatigue and brain fog means adding decades of richness to their lives.
