In honor of National Donate Life Month, we remember Shamim Bano, a 22-year-old social worker from Hunza whose life was rooted in serving others. When a tragic accident took her life in 2005, her family honored her final wish by donating her organs, turning their loss into a lasting legacy of life. Miles away, Ghulam Haider was fighting to survive. His kidneys were failing, until he received Shamim’s kidney and, with it, a second chance at life.

Today, their families remain closely connected. And in the words of Shamim’s family: “Our daughter lives through you.”

Her story is a powerful reminder- one decision can save many lives.
