Today is Employee Appreciation Day, and we want to pause and simply say thank you.

Thank you to the team members who greet every patient with warmth.
Thank you to the ones who listen closely and guide our patients with patience and care from the exam room into treatment.

Thank you to our staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes to accomplish our mission.

The work at The Rose requires compassion, precision, and heart. Our team brings all three every single day.

Join us in thanking the incredible people who make our mission possible.

For nearly 40 years, The Rose has expanded access to lifesaving breast health care across Southeast Texas.

More than 1 million lives touched since 1986
- 40,000 patients served each year
- 45 counties covered
- 8,000 uninsured women are cared for annually

Behind every number is a woman who received answers, support, and a path forward.

Help us continue the impact. Schedule your mammogram, donate, or share our mission.

🎙 Mar 3: Shelley Cooper almost skipped her mammogram at 41. That appointment led to a stage zero DCIS diagnosis and a decade of follow-up care. In this episode, she shares how pushing for a 3D mammogram, balancing treatment as a working mom, and losing loved ones to cancer shaped her into a fierce advocate for annual checkups and access to care.
Now an Honoree at our Everything’s Coming Up Roses Luncheon, she’s using her voice to support women who can’t afford mammograms and diagnostics.

🎙 Mar 5: Dr. Elizabeth Bonefas began her medical career when women weren’t always welcome in medicine. In this episode, she reflects on decades of caring for breast cancer patients, how treatment has evolved, and why access to women’s health care remains a challenge, especially for the uninsured.

As this year’s Everything’s Coming Up Roses Luncheon Speaker, she brings experience, advocacy, and heart.

As we close out Black History Month, we are honored to highlight Rising in Grace, a new organization meeting women in one of the most tender moments of the breast cancer journey.

Rising in Grace provides thoughtfully designed mastectomy kits that support women after surgery, helping with post surgery drains and the often unspoken discomforts and needs that follow a mastectomy. Their work brings dignity, care, and compassion to a stage of healing that is too often overlooked.

🎙️ We are also excited to share that Rising in Grace founder Ayanna Wilcher will be featured in an upcoming April episode of Let’s Talk About Your Breasts.

As we wrap up a month of highlighting Black led community partners, we are proud to uplift organizations that are expanding what breast cancer support looks like. These organizations are meeting real needs, closing care gaps, and strengthening the continuum of support for women during and after treatment.

Mike Hazelrigs rode more than 10,000 miles from Florida to Alaska in the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge. He carried with him the names of loved ones affected by breast cancer, including his fiancée, Kathy, who is living with metastatic breast cancer.

Mike rode for her. And for every woman still waiting for care. He raised thousands for The Rose so that more women could hear the words “we caught it early.”

You don’t have to ride across the country to make a difference. You just have to start.

This week on the podcast: Advocacy, action, and the people behind the mission

🎙 Feb 24: Mitra Woody, Chair of the Everything’s Coming Up Roses Luncheon, shares how her personal story led her to champion The Rose and fight for access to breast health care. With a background in healthcare law, she explains why early detection remains out of reach for so many and why mobile mammography and patient navigation are lifelines in vulnerable communities. She also shares her hopes for the luncheon and what it means to support this work.

🎙 Feb 26: Mike Hazelrigs reflects on love, loss, and finding purpose through action. He shares how his journey with The Rose and Bikers Against Breast Cancer began after his fiancée Kathy was diagnosed with cancer. His ride is powered by a deep commitment to raising awareness and supporting women through the road ahead.

These stories remind us that impact begins with connection. No matter where you start, you can help someone else find their way.
