The Board of Directors of The Rose has appointed Katherine Parsley as Interim Chief Executive Officer as the organization advances its search for a permanent CEO.

Katherine Parsley is a highly accomplished nonprofit leader and former judge, bringing deep expertise in business development, fundraising, alternative dispute resolution, and executive leadership. She will officially assume the Interim CEO role on Monday, March 30.

Widely respected for her professionalism, steady leadership, and approachable style, Katherine has earned the trust of colleagues and partners alike. The Board is confident that under her guidance, The Rose will continue to strengthen its impact and advance its mission of saving lives through access to quality breast health care.

On March 25, 2026, our community gathered at River Oaks Country Club for the Everything’s Coming Up Roses Luncheon and together we raised over $340,000 to support lifesaving breast health services across Southeast Texas.

Thank you to our incredible Luncheon Chair Mitra Woody and to our 2026 Honorees Nancy Strohmer and Shelley Cooper for leading with heart and purpose. We were also honored to hear from our guest speaker Dr. Elizabeth Bonefas, MD, FACS of Baylor College of Medicine, whose voice and expertise continue to advance breast health care for women in our community.

The 2026 luncheon was made possible through the support of Rochelle and Alan Jacobson, Gas Innovations, Nancy Strohmer/Shelley Cooper, Maria and Bill Boyce, Houston Methodist, Becky Wilder Ruthven and many others who believe that no woman should be turned away because she can’t afford care.

Because of you, women will receive 3D mammograms, diagnostic services, biopsies, and patient navigation into treatment regardless of their ability to pay.

This National Physicians Week, we are proud to celebrate two incredible leaders at The Rose, Dr. Dixie Melillo and Dr. Raz.

Dr. Dixie, co-founder of The Rose, has spent decades advancing breast health care for women in our community. As one of the first women to complete her surgical residency at UTMB and a board-certified surgeon focused solely on breast disease, her leadership helped build the foundation of who we are today.

Dr. Raz brings deep expertise in breast imaging along with a strong belief in patient communication. Trained at Baylor College of Medicine and UTMB, he ensures women not only receive answers but understand them.

We’re proud to spotlight Donna and thank her for the incredible impact she’s made in just six months with The Rose.

As our CPRIT Community Engagement Navigator serving 10 counties across South Central Texas, Donna has visited every county making new partnerships, presenting at community groups and forums and promoting The Rose.

Her activities and testimony of The Rose touched her small community and a generous donation was given to The Rose in January. Donna cares about all the patients at The Rose, but focuses on the uninsured enabling them to receive their sponsored screening.

Because of her dedication, more women in rural communities are gaining access to the screenings they need.

🎙 Mar 24: Julia Morales built her career in baseball, but family is what shaped her health journey. In this episode, she shares how pregnancy, COVID, and her mother’s breast cancer diagnosis in 2020 pushed her to start mammograms early and speak openly about family history and early detection.

🎙 Mar 26: Montserrat Duron was just 18 when a simple flyer led her to perform a self-exam and find a lump. Facing a diagnosis without insurance, she turned to The Rose and Dr. Elizabeth Bonefas for care. More than a decade later, she reflects on resilience, recovery, and using her voice to advocate for others.
