Curing Caroline

Curing Caroline Curing Caroline is a page dedicated to providing up-to-date information on Caroline Fletcher's research, drug development, and progress with CMT 2D (GARS).

My name is Keri Fletcher Henry (grew up in Houston, went to West U Elem/Pershing/Episcopal/Second Baptist/Texas A&M), married to Vernon Henry, daughter of Dr. Stephen Fletcher and Julie Fletcher. Kevin and Clint Fletcher are my brothers (in case you're wondering how you know the person who created this page!). My niece is Caroline Fletcher, she is a twin, and she has a very rare neurodegenerative disease. The disease is called Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease. We are so blessed that my father's s background is in Biochemistry and medicine and that he is connected to so many resources. Caroline is 9 years old, and zips around in her "magic chair" with great skill! She has a genetic mutation that causes her muscles to atrophy all over, and compromises her immunity. She cannot walk or use her hands. Research is on the fast track for her, they have duplicated her mutation from her DNA, have successfully completed mice trials with her mutation, and the mice have been up to walk after treatment. Now the FDA needs two more comprehensive studies in order to complete the final phase of the pharmaceutical drug development. At this time they are working on a drug, the cost to develop and test is ONLY privately funded at this time. Any support is needed. Here is the donation link. ALL donations go straight to Caroline's research laboratory, and ALL donations are tax deductible. https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E13111&id=116

Caroline received her first ever Gene Therapy treatment for Charcot Marie Tooth disease, yesterday 10/27/25 at Memorial Hermann Childrens in the Texas Medical Center. Caroline was supported by her incredible team of doctors + her all time favorite doctor, who has been leading her rare disease treatment journey, her grandpa, Dr. Stephen Fletcher.

She will eventually get an injection every 3 months in order to slow down her disease’s progression, and hopefully get some of her strength back.

Please continue to pray for Caroline & for the promising future of these personalized medicines/gene therapies that can potentially help millions of others that battle rare diseases! 🙏🙏💪💪

Congrats Caroline Fletcher on this HUGE achievement of graduating 5th grade! Although…her wonderful HomeBound teacher Mrs. Molly says she reads at an 8th grade level!
This little brainiac will be heading to Middle School next year with her cousin Shelby!Caroline’s twin brother Henry will be venturing off to private middle school with his best friend! Henry has been such a blessing for Caroline from Kinder-5th grade, assisting her in her physical needs, while helping her Dad and grandparents keep track of projects and assignments.

Caroline & Henry’s grandparents “Mimi & Papa,” and their Dad, apparently have magical powers because they have been such warriors for Caroline all these years. We also can’t forget Caroline’s incredibly patient, warm, superhero caregiver, Elvira, what a God-send.

We are so blessed to have these sweet, hard working and RESILIENT kiddos who are the ones that teach US adults so many life lessons on the daily. I can’t tell you how much I look UP to Caroline. Her incredible strength, smarts, and perseverance have been admirable qualities through times of adversity. This girl WILL BE A FUTURE LEADER, just you wait…
