This was so surreal. I’m still in absolute shock that it happened to form over my kids and I today, skip over our neighborhood and hit the one next to us.

What really struck my wonder was how absolutely calm it was, to not calm, to a rainbow. It really made me think about how life does the same.

Prayers for our Klein community as some face the damage and destruction this tornado caused. Grateful to be spared. 🙏🏼

The road to blue belt is a long one and I’m in it for the long haul.

It’s my 2nd stripe and while some would scoff, I’m extremely proud of myself for sticking around and learning about this sport. It also reminds me of what I tell my clients, “we can’t make it to the end without the small goals and steps along the way.”

I started this journey because I make my kids do it and I felt if I made them do it, I should learn too. Jiu Jitsu has taught me more discipline and mental fortitude than I ever had before but what it really offered me was a family and for that I’m most grateful.

I look forward to continuing my journey through jiu jitsu and getting that blue belt one day with

Thank you for being my partner through it and for offering a place I call my 2nd home.

And of course to my training partners, I wouldn’t be able to learn anything without all the patience they offer me in rolls. Thank you for kicking my ass at 6:00 AM. 😅

🤙🏼

On to the next stripe!!!

As a nutritionist one of the top things I remind my clients is that you need to take it one meal at a time.

Here’s the recipe for this fish:

4-5 lbs Res Snapper, descaled, head and tail intact.
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp ground sumac
1 tsp coriander
1/4 tsp sea salt & ground black pepper
2-5 bell pepper
1/2 red onion
1/2 Roma tomatoes
10-15 garlic cloves
Olive oil

Scour the fish on both sides. Mash the garlic into paste with the salt. Mix the remaining spices together. Rub the fish and fill its cavities with the garlic and then apply 3/4 of the spice blend. Slice the veggies and fill the cavity of fish. Place the remaining veggies into olive oil, salt and pepper and place to the outside of the fish on a baking tray.

Oven at 425 until cooked to 145 internal temp. 20-30 minutes depending on the thickness of the fish and your oven. Broil the last minute.

One of my favorite recipes from the cookbook

In honor of my first surro nephew, I bring you a video from 8 years ago when I was in early labor at 41 weeks and 6 days, with August, who’s now 8 years old this week.

Yoga got me through one of the hardest years of my life, through pregnancy’s, healing through postpartum an it’s always been there for me for the stages in between.

Do the IG OGs recognize this spot?

Can you tell by my face that I’m absolutely not into it?

I tried vegan tofu eggs so that you don’t have to. Needless to say I was absolutely not thrilled and prefer to stick to real eggs. However, I do have clients that are vegan and before I recommend something, I tend to try it. I don’t like every recipe but if it’s still a solid way to get protein I may suggest them to try it. So in case this interests you, despite the absolute fake smile, here’s the recipe:

Tofu “Egg” Scramble

Firm Tofu w/ Liquid
Turmeric
Garlic Powder
Salt & Pepper
Olive Oil

Oil & heat your pan.
Place tofu with the liquid in your pan and gently mash with a fork into “scramble” like pieces cooking it down until most of the liquid is cooked out. Add 1/2 tsp of turmeric. 1/4 tsp garlic powder. Pinch of salt & pepper. Stir until mixed. Cook until all liquid is absorbed.

I’ve been trying to upload reels since the 15th and this account is NOT working for reels. You’re just going to have to see a picture of a delicious meal instead of my face for 20 seconds. 🤪

Here’s a reminder to eat a nutritious meal this evening. Think 6-8 oz protein, 1 TBSP of healthy fats, 3 cups of veggies!

Enjoy your evening. 🫶🏼
