The one thing that I write about a lot in the book is that I know there’s still a lot of life left for me to live. It was hard dealing with the loss of the boys, but I never gave up and I never will. It’s all about finding your balance between grieving and living.

This video really hit home for me, especially now that I have been working in hospice. Also, I too need to calm down my enthusiasm about the way I talk about grief 🫤

Anyhoo…. I have had the privilege to be bedside when one of our patients decided to do a terminal weaning and it was in that moment that I saw the beauty in death.

There is pain when we come into this world and there is pain when we leave it. However, the pain belongs to those left behind and that is why most of us fear talking about death and accepting that our loved ones are ready to die.

Every day we wake up we are one day closer to dying, so we might as well normalize talking about it.

The holiday season is especially difficult for those who are grieving. If you are in the supporting role for someone don’t force them to participate in any holiday traditions they’re not ready for because it’s too painful. Allow them to create a holiday they can endure even is it’s skipping the holiday altogether.
