As we close out the year, we want to pause and share a message of gratitude and reflection from our CEO.

“As we reflect on this past year, we are deeply grateful for the strength, compassion, and connection that define our community. Every day, we see how meaningful relationships among businesses, neighbors, partners, staff, and those we serve create hope, opportunity, and support for mental health and wellness.

We are proud to be part of a community that believes in caring for one another, meeting people where they are at, and ensuring that everyone has access to the resources they need to live with dignity, purpose, and well-being.

Your generosity makes this work possible. Because of your support, individuals and families in our community are met with understanding, encouragement, and services that foster stability, personal growth, and independence.

As the year comes to a close, please know how much your partnership means to us. We move into the new year inspired by your kindness and confident in what we can accomplish together.”

— Andrea Deepe, CEO
ASCEND Mental Wellness

As this year comes to a close, take a moment to pause and reflect. Before rushing into resolutions or expectations, consider what you want to carry into 2026, not as goals to achieve, but as intentions that support your mental health and well-being.

Growth and healing aren’t always visible or linear. Sometimes it can look like taking space when you need it, showing yourself kindness on tough days, believing in your own growth, and gently letting go of what no longer serves you.

As we step into a new year, remember: your mental health matters. You deserve compassion, care, and the time it takes to become who you’re growing into.

Earlier this month Christmas came a little early at our East Side Center with a joyful surprise visit from Santa!

The unexpected arrival brought smiles, laughter, and a sense of connection that filled the room. Moments like these with shared joy, warmth, and simple celebration play an important role in supporting mental health and overall wellness, especially during the holiday season.

We are incredibly grateful to our Support Services staff who went above and beyond to make the day meaningful. From handmade hats to brand-new East Side Center t-shirts, their care and dedication helped our members feel seen, valued, and supported.

As the new year begins, many people feel pressure to reset, set goals, or “start fresh.” For individuals navigating mental health challenges and substance use or addiction recovery, this season can bring added stress, uncertainty, and heightened expectations.

Progress doesn’t have to look like a clean slate. What matters most is continuing to show up, staying connected, and having support through the ups and downs. Consistency and community can help ground you when motivation feels uneven or when expectations feel overwhelming.

Our Dual Recovery Group offers this in a welcoming, judgment-free space for individuals with peer-led support. You don’t have to do this alone—and you don’t have to have it all figured out.

On days like today, when winter weather slows us down, it’s important to pause and remember: you are worthy of kindness and care.

Even if your week is starting slower than you anticipated, that’s okay. Give yourself grace, don’t rush, and take it one step at a time.

You are stronger than your anxiety, your stress, and everything that feels overwhelming.

Recently, our staff at Genesis, one of our Community Residences for Restorative Residential, spent time baking cupcakes with residents, while building lifeskills.

From measuring ingredients to waiting for the cupcakes to bake and decorating them, the experience offered more than just a sweet treat. Baking supports mental health and wellness by encouraging self-care, patience, and mindfulness, allowing residents to slow down and stay present.

These hands-on activities build practical life skills such as planning, following directions, time management, and completing a task from start to finish, supporting confidence and independence through consistent practice.

Every year, Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation - Queensbury includes us in their Jesse Giving Tree project, and we are incredibly grateful for their continued generosity and partnership.

This year, they collected 112 tumblers for residents in our residential programs, a thoughtful gift that will be used and appreciated daily.

Receiving a gift like this is about more than the item itself. It reminds individuals that they are not alone, that support is available, and that they truly matter. Especially during the holiday season, these moments of care and connection can make a meaningful difference.

Thank you to Our Lady of the Annunciation for getting involved in our mission and for helping support individuals on their optimal pathways toward mental well-being.

We know the holidays can be hard.

With reduced sunlight Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) often worsens this time of year. In turn with holiday stress it can impact your mental health and well-being.

According to the American Psychological Association, nearly 9 in 10 people report feeling stressed during the holidays, and more than half of individuals with existing mental health conditions notice their symptoms intensify.

Even for those without SAD, this season can bring what’s often called the “holiday blues.”

So remember, it is okay to not feel okay. But know you are not alone, there is support and help available.

If you or someone you know are struggling reach out call, text or chat 988.

We’re wishing everyone a Happy Holiday season from all of us at ASCEND!

As we celebrate the holiday season, it is important to remember it invites moments for connection, reflection, and care for ourselves and others.

However you’re spending the holidays, know that your mental well-being matters. Taking care of your mental health, setting boundaries, or simply getting through the day are all valid and worthy.

Whether you’re surrounded by loved ones or moving through the season quietly, please remember that support is always within reach. No one should have to navigate the holidays alone.

Our offices will be closed tomorrow in observance of the holiday, and we will re-open Friday, December 26th at 8:00AM.

Our Wellness Garden doesn’t stop growing when the temperatures drop. Even in the colder months, the garden is hard at work preparing for the year ahead, such as propagating live plants for our 2026 Spring Plant Sale.

This behind-the-scenes work is a reminder that growth often happens quietly and patiently, long before it’s visible. Each plant represents care, intention, and our ongoing commitment to mental wellness, sustainability, and connection.

We’re looking forward to sharing the results of this season’s work with our community next spring!

We’re excited to share the completed Zen Den at our East Side Center, a thoughtfully designed space created to support calm, connection, and healing.

The Zen Den provides a safe, soothing environment that promotes emotional regulation, stress reduction, and overall mental wellness. This dedicated room allows individuals to step away from overstimulating environments and engage in grounding practices that support self-soothing and recovery. It also encourages the development of healthy coping skills by offering opportunities to practice mindfulness, breathing exercises, and self-regulation techniques.

This space exists because of the generosity, care, and support of our donors, volunteers, and community partners. By getting involved with our mission, you helped turn intention into impact, and created a space where individuals can pause, reset, and feel supported.
