Due to snowy weather impacting safe driving conditions, ASCEND Administration, Caleo Counseling, and our 230 Maple Street offices will be CLOSED today.

Operations will continue remotely, and our offices will reopen tomorrow at 8:00 AM.

If today’s snow and winter weather are starting to feel like a lot, please know you’re not facing it alone. Lean on your support system, whether that’s a friend, family member, or a neighbor who can lend a hand. Weather stress is real, and it’s okay to take a moment to reset. Prioritize your well-being and give yourself space to breathe.

Stay safe and take care!

You don’t have to do this alone.

Recovery happens in moments. Moments when someone listens, when someone understands, when someone says, “I’ve been there too.”

Our Dual Recovery Group is built on support that is real, consistent, and rooted in community. Every week, people come together to navigate both mental health and substance use and/or addiction recovery in a safe space.

If you’re looking for a space where people truly understand the journey, this group is here for you. Our Dual Recovery groups meet every Tuesday from 4:15PM to 5:15PM at our community partners, Hope & Healing Recovery Community Center with one of our peer specalists.

As we step into the final month of the year, let’s take a moment to focus on our mental health and wellness. December can bring reflection, celebration, and sometimes stress, but it’s also a perfect time to prioritize yourself, your well-being, and your connections.

Take small steps each day. Whether it is pausing, taking a deep breath, reaching out to someone who lifts you up, celebrating the little wins, and giving yourself grace on your journey.

Remember: your mental wellness matters every day.

As the winter holidays kick off with Thanksgiving behind us and more traditions on the way, it’s easy to get swept up in the busyness of the season. But as things speed up, it’s just as important not to let time for ourselves slip through the cracks.

Think about the winter traditions or simple activities that help you prioritize your mental health and wellness. Maybe it’s baking, taking a walk outside, hiking, watching a favorite movie, crafting, or just slowing down with a warm drink. What fills your cup this time of year?

This season, try to be intentional about scheduling those moments, whether your calendar is packed or not and try taking care of yourself.

In our residential programs, we’re always looking for ways to build connection and create a sense of community because feeling supported and included is such an important part of mental wellness.

This week, our Community Living Apartments cooked up a Thanksgiving dinner for residents, giving everyone a chance to come together, share a meal, and enjoy some good company. Sometimes it’s these simple moments that mean the most.

We’re grateful for everyone who helped make it happen and for the everyday moments of community our residents and staff create together.

Revisit our Peer Perspective Podcast episode “Fostering Connections for Recovery” from our podcast archive for real-life insights and strategies on strengthening connections, rebuilding trust, and nurturing the relationships that fuel lasting wellness.

As the season shifts from fall to winter, many of us are surrounded by traditions and gatherings, but not everyone experiences the “typical” holiday. Some spend the day alone, working, or creating their own traditions.

During this time, fostering connections is more important than ever. Recovery isn’t just about breaking free from substances, it’s about rebuilding your life and the relationships that sustain you.

Our Health Home Care Management team is enjoying a creative break to help craft ornaments for our Spirit of Trees display hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Glens Falls.

Inspired by our theme of "Lights of Kindness," each ornament reflects the compassion, support and community connection at the heart of their work.

Activities like this are a wonderful opportunity of team building and staff wellness, giving everyone the space to unwind, connect, and share in something uplifting together.

Stay tuned for photos of our display on Dec. 5th!

Drop off for our Hygiene Basic Essentials Donation Drive with StoredTech is underway!

What a way to kick off the season of gratitude! Our friends at Stored Technology Solutions, inc. are leading the charge in giving back to our mission. Their Queensbury and Albany offices are hosting donation boxes through the end of January to help stock much-needed hygiene and basic essential items for the individuals we serve.

We’re so grateful for partners like StoredTech who help us provide dignity, support, and care to our community every day.

Quick update from our Wellness Garden! This year, we added loofahs to our list of sustainable produce.

We’re drying them and removing the seeds to create exfoliating soaps in an upcoming soap-making workshop for our East Side Center members. Once dried, loofahs can also be used as natural sponges for cleaning or exfoliating.

By growing and using loofahs, we’re:
💙Encouraging sustainability: Eco-friendly gardening and reducing reliance on plastic sponges and commercial exfoliators.
💜Promoting hands-on learning and creativity: Gardening and soap-making provide fun, expressive ways to create and explore.
💚Supporting mental health and wellness: Activities help reduce stress, build routine, and foster a sense of accomplishment and pride.
💛Encouraging self-care: Natural products like loofah soaps and sponges provide a tangible way for members to care for themselves, inside and out.

Stay tuned and maybe see these next year at our 2026 Spring Plant Sale!
