Time to check in 45 days into 2026! How are those New Year’s resolutions going?

If they’re not going exactly as planned, that’s okay. Change doesn’t happen overnight. New goals, habits, and routines take time to stick or sometimes show us what isn’t right for us.

So here’s a gentle reminder: don't be hard on yourself, and don’t ruminate. Everyone has been there at some point whether with New Year Resolutions, creating a goal, setting boundaries or just starting new.

As we step into Random Acts of Kindness Week, make your first act of kindness for yourself. You deserve it.

Happy Valentine’s Day. 💚

Today can mean many different things. It cam be celebrating a partner, appreciating friendships, spending time with family, or simply honoring yourself. Whether you’re single, married, healing, thriving, or somewhere in between, your experience matters.

Love isn’t just romantic. It’s kindness. It’s boundaries. It’s checking in. It’s giving yourself permission to rest. Prioritizing your mental health and wellness is one of the most meaningful acts of self-care.

Take a moment today to show compassion to yourself and to someone else.

You are valued. You matter. And you deserve care in every season.

Sometimes rebuilding yourself takes time.

Especially after experiences that can leave a mark. This could include broken trust in a relationship, the loss of someone you love, being bullied, disappointment, or moments that shake your confidence and sense of security.

Those experiences matter. They happened. We acknowledge them.

But they do not define you.

What defines you is your strength. Your growth. Your perseverance. Your resilience. The choice to lean on support. The courage to ask for help. The determination to keep going, even when it feels heavy.

Healing isn’t linear. Rebuilding isn’t instant. And prioritizing your mental health isn never selfish.

Focus on you. Invest in your wellness. Give yourself compassion.

With slightly warmer temperatures and sunlight peeking through the winter clouds, our East Side Center members embraced the opportunity to get out, move their bodies, and reconnect with one another outside of their usual routine.

A trip to Broadway Lanes turned into much more than a game of bowling. It was a morning filled with laughter, encouragement, high-fives, and a little friendly competition. For many, it was a chance to build confidence, strengthen social connections, and experience the simple joy of trying something new or revisiting a favorite activity.

Opportunities like this matter. Community outings help reduce isolation, support emotional wellness, and remind us that healing and recovery can include fun, movement, and shared experiences.

Even in the middle of winter, small moments of light and connection can make a meaningful difference in someone's mental health and wellness.

Thank you to the Adirondack Business Non-Profit Council through the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce for leading another engaging and meaningful Nonprofit Chat this month.

Yesterday, we had the privilege of welcoming Survivor Support Services from Planned Parenthood of Greater New York for an informative and impactful presentation.

Their team shared who they are, the work they do, and the critical services they provide to survivors and their loved ones in our communities. Survivor Support Services provides confidential, compassionate support for individuals who have experienced sexual violence, abuse, or trauma. Their trained Survivor Support Advocates are available 24/7 through a toll-free hotline (1-866-307-4086), offering crisis support, information, and connection to resources. Services are free and confidential.

We are truly grateful for the time they spent educating our leadership team and deepening our understanding of these essential resources. Opportunities like this strengthen our ability to better support individuals we serve. This helps ensure we remain informed, connected, and prepared to guide community members to the care and advocacy they deserve.

Recently at Housing First, our residents, interim participants, and staff came together for a Valentine’s Craft Day! They explored a variety of creative projects.

Activities like this go beyond simple crafts. They encourage social engagement, skill-building, and meaningful connection. For many, opportunities to gather, collaborate, and express creativity are vital in fostering a sense of community and belonging.

These shared experiences are an important part of mental health and wellness, helping individuals reduce stress, build confidence, and strengthen relationships.

Moments like this help individuals feel seen, heard, and supported.

Are you doomscrolling? You're not alone. Nearly 43% of U.S. adults do this daily. It is more common than not. While it may feel harmless, it’s not.

Constant exposure to negative news, social media comparison, and endless notifications can quietly drain your mental health. Over time, it increases stress, heightens anxiety, and makes it harder to feel present or grounded in your own life.

Taking a step back isn’t just okay, it’s necessary. Setting boundaries around screen time, curating the content you consume, and intentionally seeking uplifting or informative material can help protect your emotional well-being.

Remember, your mental health is important. You deserve to pause, recharge, and reclaim your focus. Scrolling endlessly shouldn’t come at the cost of your peace of mind.

Beyond our community Dual Recovery group at we lead every Tuesday at Hope & Healing Recovery Community Center, we also bring groups directly to our community partners, including the men’s and women’s The Addictions Care Center of Albany houses in Queensbury.

Recently, at the women’s ACCA house, our Dual Recovery Peer Specialist led a creative and powerful activity. Individuals wrote notes to one another and to themselves, reflecting on what they see when they look in the mirror.

This simple activity encourages self-reflection, self-compassion, and recognition of personal growth, important steps in healing. Writing to each other strengthens peer connections, while writing to oneself nurtures self-acceptance and resilience.

Moments like this show how peer support and recovery work hand-in-hand to create safe spaces that empowers individuals to grow and heal together.

Many individuals navigating mental health challenges along side substance use or addiction often find themselves carrying more than what’s visible.

Connecting with others who have walked similar paths opens the door to being seen, heard, and met with empathy rather than judgment. This can help ease isolation and remind you that you’re not alone.

Dual Recovery Group
Tuesdays | 4:15–5:15 PM

This is a peer-led space grounded in shared experience and support.
