Yesterday over 50 volunteers came together in the cold for our final MMO of the year!

In recap, our morning clinic saw 15 patients, providing multiple vaccines, HIV testing, and Narcan kits (thanks to ). We also scheduled 3 lung cancer screenings and 3 mammograms (thanks to ), and helped stabilize a mental health issue with connections to housing, food, and phone services.

We want to shoutout who prepared a ton of fun holiday gift bags! Bags were funded by and Dr. Jen Sparks.

This Leadership Friday is our core leadership team! We wanted to take a moment to reflect and say thank you.

To everyone who has shown up, volunteered, donated, messaged, and supported us in so many ways, we truly appreciate you. This organization works because of the people who pour their time, energy, and heart into it, and we’ve felt that all year long.

As a leadership team, we set out this year to really push recognition for MMO, expand our preventative care efforts, and build stronger partnerships across the community. With your help, we’ve been able to not only reach those goals but exceed them.

We are incredibly grateful for everyone who continues to believe in this mission and cannot wait to see how much more we grow in 2026.

Reminder Clinic is this Saturday 9AM!

Closing out another year of MMO!
Each month our clinics have brought together 80+ volunteers including medical students, PA, PT, pharmacy, PsyD, the Health Department, ECCC, Ebenezer, and so many community partners.

That is roughly 6,000 hours of service poured into Huntington this year.

Thank you to every volunteer, partner, and patient who makes this work possible.

Here’s to an even bigger 2026 💚

Our next clinic is THIS Saturday.

📅 Date: This Saturday 🕒 Clinic Time: 9:00–11:00 AM 📍 Location: Beside the Huntington City Mission — 624 10th St, Huntington, WV 25701

This clinic is open to ALL. No appointments needed, no insurance required

We’ll be offering our usual free services, including: • Acute Medical evaluations  • Blood pressure and glucose checks • Physical Therapy and Psychology Services • Sign-ups for cancer screenings (partnered with Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center)
• Health Department Screenings and Vaccinations (including HIV/STD, Flu, and MORE) • Health education & resource navigation
• FREE Reader Eyeglasses
• Diabetic Retinopathy Screenings
• Oral Health Services
• Pharmacy + Over the Counter Products • Hygiene kits and clothing (as available)

Please help us spread the word to anyone who might benefit. We’re looking forward to another great clinic and the chance to continue supporting our Huntington community. 💚

So proud of our MMO team today 💚🩺. Despite a few unexpected challenges, our students came together, stayed flexible, and delivered a truly successful clinic for our community.

We were able to:
• Care for 26 patients, including 10 who saw our student doctors for acute and complex needs
• Administer 14 vaccinations
• Provide HIV and STD screenings
• Make 4 physical therapy referrals
• Screen multiple patients for high blood glucose and identify 3 new cases needing follow-up
• Distribute a full box of medical donations generously provided by WoodmenLife, Chapter 223 in Milton WV 🫶🏻

Thank you to every student and volunteer who showed up with heart, teamwork, and commitment to Huntington today.

Leader Friday 💚 this month we’re spotlighting Sydney Smith, our Outreach Tent leader.

Here’s what Sydney shared about why MMO matters to her:

“The people we help at Marshall Medical Outreach are often the last ones to ask for help. When we talk with these folks, many are hesitant — they’ve learned to make do with what they have. They sometimes ask, ‘Is this really for us?’ in disbelief, and are always surprised when we tell them that yes, everything we bring is for them.

It’s one thing to ask people if they need help — it’s another to bring help directly to them. Every month, we receive so much more than we give: gratitude, perspective, and a reminder of why we do what we do.

As rising physicians, we know that health is more than just numbers. It’s more than blood pressure, heart rate, BMI, or electrolytes. Health is built from every aspect of a person’s life. With the help of our dedicated volunteers and generous donors, MMO continues to build a foundation that supports those aspects of health that are too often overlooked and undervalued.

I look forward to continuing to serve the community through MMO and hope to share this passion with incoming volunteers.”

Heads up: our refraction clinic will not be operating this month. We intended to continue this service, but we’re unable to at this time. We’re working to complete the necessary paperwork and aim to resume in December’s MMO. Thank you for understanding!

A great Saturday morning at MMO! 💚 We saw 30 patients today! Including 16 glucose screenings (2 with elevated sugars, one newly identified), several diabetic screenings, 4 fluoride varnishes, 6 vaccine screenings, and 18 physical therapy visits with 3 referrals. Plus, 3 patients signed up for cancer screenings with ECCC!

Join us this Saturday beside the Huntington City Mission for our next free clinic!

We’ll be offering a full range of health screenings + our usual offerings (refer to last post), including our new diabetic retinopathy screenings for patients with diabetes.

Please note: We’re unable to offer prescription eyeglasses this month but hope to resume next month!

Setup begins at 8 AM — clinic starts at 9 AM.

We can’t wait to see everyone there!

While our refraction clinic is still in progress, we’re now screening for diabetic retinopathy using a new camera (for diabetic patients only).
