to the one lookin’ for a romance novel to make ya laugh, shed a few tears, and be inspired all at the same time…. this beautiful lil tear jerker is for you.

“My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla. That is, until I saw Olly.”

to love is to risk. to love is to sacrifice. that’s what happens when love infiltrates every ounce of who you are — creating a willingness to sacrifice with no reservation, no hesitation.

Spoiler alert: Love is worth everything. Maddy finally meets someone who believes that same thing.

to the one attached to outcomes.. the one who says you trust God but behind the scenes you work yourself to death trying to control your own life… the one who blames God when things go wrong in your life… this one is for you.

“God doesn’t want you or me to suffer. But He will allow it in doses to increase our trust. Our pain and suffering isn’t to hurt us. It’s to save us. To save us from a life where we are self-reliant, self-satisfied, self -absorbed, and set up for the greatest pain of all . . . separation from God.”

“Sometimes to get your life back, you have to face the death of what you thought your life would look like.”

“In the quiet, unexpressed, unwrestled-through disappointments, Satan is handcrafting his most damning weapons against us and those we love. It’s his subtle seduction to get us alone with our thoughts so he can slip in whispers that will develop our disappointments into destructive choices.”

to the one who often ponders about the soul-searching questions about God, like What is God like? Why are things the way they are in spite of who God is? Why doesn't God seem to answer our biggest prayers?

“What is childlike humility? It’s not the lack of intelligence, but the lack of guile. The lack of an agenda. It’s that precious, fleeting time before we have accumulated enough pride or position to care what other people might think. The same un-self-conscious honesty that enables a three-year-old to splash joyfully in a rain puddle, or tumble laughing in the grass with a puppy, or point out loudly that you have a bo**er hanging out of your nose, is what is required to enter heaven. It is the opposite of ignorance—it is intellectual honesty: to be willing to accept reality and to call things what they are even when it is hard.”

I suggest reading the book before watching the movie. a joy-filled, feel-good tear jerker of a movie.

without a doubt one of my favorite, most impactful reads. this is for believers, non-believers, and everyone in between. what a beautiful piece.

“The moment you have a self at all, there is a possibility of putting yourself first - wanting to be the centre - wanting to be God, in fact. That was the sin of Satan: and that was the sin he taught the human race. Some people think the fall of man had something to do with s*x, but that is a mistake...what Satan put into the heads of our remote ancestors was the idea that they 'could be like Gods' - could set up on their own as if they had created themselves - be their own masters - invent some sort of happiness for themselves outside God, apart from God. And out of that hopeless attempt has come...the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy.”

“As we respond to the love of God and begin to identify the variety of languages He uses to speak to us, we soon learn to speak those languages ourselves. Whatever love language you prefer, may you find ever deeper satisfaction in using that language in your relationship with God and with other people.”

Dr. Chapman describes how the five love languages can be used as a tool to help develop a more intimate relationship with God — high recommend!
