The difference between Classical & Contemporary Pilates seems to be a hot topic right now. Here at Foundations Studio we believe there is room for both styles with the emphasis on ensuring our clients a safe, beneficial workout.
Classical Pilates adheres to the original, traditional sequences developed by Jospeh Pilates. It focuses on the mind body connection, core strength, precision, flexibility & posture. There is an emphasis on flow, rhythm and a consistent order of exercises.
Contemporary Pilates incorporates modern variations of the classical exercises and new exercises. It can be more exercise based adding in props to add diversity.
At Foundations Studio we put a lot of thought into the Pilates instructors we hire. All of our instructors are well trained & educated which allows us to give our instructors the freedom to design their classes to their specific style. This then allows clients to find an instructor who teaches the style they are searching for & experience both classical & contemporary Pilates.
