Hello everyone! Sorry for the absence on the page- things have been chaotic here with the flu going around and all the pharmacy issues I'm sure you're almost all aware of.
As of right now, almost all major pharmacies are NOT filling any scheduled/controlled medications for patients if the prescription is written by a Primary Care Provider. This is happening to many other providers, not just us. It seems that the pharmacies are requiring these types of medications be written by a Specialist. What this means is if you are on any PAIN medication, you will HAVE to be referred out to Pain Management BEFORE 2/23/2024. If you are on any ANXIETY medication (i.e. benzo scheduled medications), odds are you will HAVE to be referred out to a Psychiatrist.
Many of you have already done Pain Management, but the pharmacies don't seem to care about that at this point in time. They are strict about requiring you see a specialist to continue this plan of care. If you are one of the many who have already done Pain management, let us know so we can get you sent to the right place.
We are just as unhappy with these changes as you all are. However, it is at the pharmacies' request that we do things this way. They will refuse any scheduled medications prescribed by Doctor Johnstone if sent by him and NOT a specialist. Again, this has not only affected our practice but many practices across Indiana.
If you have already received a text, email, or phone call from a Clinic or Specialist, that means your referral has already been sent, and you are REQUIRED to schedule an appointment with them if you would like to continue your medications.
If you have not received anything from these places, please reach out to our office via telephone, Portal, or Facebook. If you have already located a clinic you would like to go to, give us the information when you contact us.
We apologize so very sincerely for the inconvenience this may cause to all of you! We wish we could continue to handle all aspects of your primary care, but it's the pharmacies right to refuse a prescription if not written by a specialist.
Please document all visits with specialists (the good and the bad parts if necessary) and follow up with us, or let us know how it's going! We care about each and every one of you!

Happy Weekend to ALL! I hope you're all enjoying your Saturday.
I'd like to start off by saying thank you to everyone who has spoken so highly of Doctor Johnstone and our practice, especially when referring people to join our private practice! We appreciate all the referred patients we've gotten so far!
This leads me to my next point.
It is with great disappointment that I must announce that we are no longer accepting new patients at this time. We have reached our patient limit and will be re-evaluating if we can continue accepting new patients again in January 2024. We DO, however, have a waiting list for those who would like to inquire about becoming a patient when we do decide to take on more patients. With all the issues we have going on with pharmacies and trying to get referrals out, medications sent and approved, imaging done for patients, and so on, it's becoming more tedious to keep up with just basic preventative and primary care, which is what we literally LIVE for here at Johnstone Family Practice! We have to think about what's best for the practice and our current patients we are caring for at this time, and taking on more patients is just not in our cards AT THIS TIME. Once again, we will re-evaluate our patient load and see if we can't begin accepting new patients again.
We love and appreciate all the new patients we have received over the last few months/past year, as well as our most loyal patients who have been with us for many, many years! We will continue working diligently on any concerns or requests you all may have! Have a great weekend!

Welcome back, everyone! We hope you enjoyed your holiday! I'll just say it now, so no one asks.... NO, unfortunately Johnstone did not catch Bambi this year, but thanks to the kindness and consideration of our patients, he actually got to TRY to hunt without distraction! A short-lived vacation he so DESPERATELY needed.
Now. Back to business;
I did want to inform you all that Johnstone was out sick YESTERDAY, and now, unfortunately, Shawna is out sick today as well! We are catching up from yesterday, while trying to stay on top of all the calls and patients coming in today as well. Poor Sharon is all alone at the front desk today - answering calls, checking patients in AND out, checking messages, prepping appointments, returning calls, taking payments, and SO MUCH MORE all by herself! So we do kindly ask that you have a little bit of patience with us today, as we are catching up from being short staffed yesterday, while also being short staffed today.
We also politely ask that you keep your phone messages short, sweet, and to the point. Leave your name, numbers, birth date, a BRIEF description about what you're calling about. The longer the message is that's been left, the longer it takes us to get through them and respond in a timely manner. WE WILL CALL YOU BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. We understand matters can be very urgent, especially given all the issues with pharmacies we have going on right now (I'm sure most of you have heard about that headache!)
I will make another post later today explaining more about the pharmacy issues, as it does pertain and affect a MAJORITY of our patient load. If you have any concerns before this post is made, feel free to contact us via Facebook messenger - our elation messages are backed up and we're catching them up today, and I don't want to miss any questions or concerns you all may have!
Stay tuned to hear about the pharmacy changes and restrictions! I'll elaborate as best as I can once I have all the information gathered.
Thanks again so much to all of our kind, loving, selfless, helpful, most astounding patients for all of your support, love, kindness, and understanding during these most perplexing times. All of these newfound issues are just as much of a headache and stressor to us, as it is to all of you. We strive to make sure we can care for you as best we can, given the recently established restrictions we are facing at this time.

Happy Holiday Week! I'd like to let everyone know that we ARE checking messages. Please give us at least 24-48 hours to respond, as Doctor Johnstone is usually away from his phone during the daytime.
Please REFRAIN from calling the answering service- it makes it much harder for us to get to messages left by patients through out the day (not to mention is charges doc every time someone calls- YIKES). I understand everyone has their needs, and we will be working diligently to accommodate those needs appropriately to the best of our abilities. So please, make sure you are leaving messages or sending them through the portal, rather than calling the on-call answering service. You can also send messages through Facebook if you feel your situation is urgent and can not wait.

Attention all our lovely patients! We are FORCING Doctor Johnstone to take some time off and take care of some of his own personal things the week of Thanksgiving. That means our office will be closed from Monday, November 20th, and will be reopening on Monday, November 27th. The staff members will be working diligently from home, as well as from the office, using our online Elation Passport EMR. If you need anything, you can send us messages through your Elation Passport Profile or leave a voice-mail with the front office staff, for we WILL be continuing to check messages. If you do not have access to Elation Passport yet and would like to set it up, please let us know as soon as possible. You need your own email in order to set it up. Doctor Johnstone has been working over 18 hour days 7 days a week and is due to take this time to recoup, relax, and take care of his own health. We ask that you please do NOT message him directly- us staff members can handle whatever needs you may have! We hope you all have a blessed holiday week, stay safe, stay healthy, and don't hesitate to ask us for anything!

We will be CLOSED on this upcoming Monday, Tuesday, and the usual Wednesday. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause any of you! Some of us will be able to check the Elation Portal during these days, but please keep in mind that we can only do so much from home and/or without the doctor.
We appreciate each and every one of you who have stuck with us through thick and thin, pandemic or epidemic, sunshine or snow- we couldn't do what we do without our amazing patients! Please enjoy your holiday weekend, and don't hesitate to let us know if there is anything we can do to further assist you!

We do apologize for the phones these last few weeks. It seems us staff members have passed an illness around to each other including our children! Sharon is working solely on the phones by herself and is doing the best she can with the work load we've been given at these crucial times. We thank you for your patience and understanding! We are working diligently to respond to Elation messages as well as the phone messages. Our four person Staff has been cut in half lately, so we do apologize for this inconvenience. Thanks so much for all of your support!

Our Providers include Dr. Andrew Johnstone RPh, Cheryl Green FNP-C, and Kelley Carroll APRN. We are accepting new patients for our direct pay primary care memberships only. If you have no insurance or a high deductible insurance and want affordable healthcare, we provide annual complete physical exams, minor gynecology procedures, minor surgical procedures, bio-identical hormone replacement, weight loss, sick visits, and other visits as needed. All for a low monthly membership fee give us a call to schedule your new patient appointment.
