September is National Su***de Prevention Month. Let’s change the language we use when talking about su***de. Did you know that the phrase “committed su***de” is from a time when su***de was treated as a crime? This language may create more hesitation for an individual with suicidal ideation to reach out. Our language and thoughts about those affected by su***de have since evolved. Individuals who are contemplating su***de are oftentimes battling mental illness, trauma or other factors that could leave them feeling completely helpless and hopeless. So what about “completed” su***de? I encourage us to step away from this term as well. Completing something is considered good and healthy, however su***de is not. Changing your language surrounding su***de can can help those around you, who may actually be battling the thought of ending their life, feel as though you are someone they can trust and lean on for support. We must remove the shame if we want to begin to prevent su***des. We encourage you to change your vocabulary to use the phrase: died by su***de. ***deawareness ***deprevention

A note from our owner and therapist regarding our practice and COVID-19...

Good morning,

I wanted to personally reach out and let you know that we have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation. First and foremost, the health and well-being of our patients and therapists remains our highest priority. Because of the nature of our one on one care, being low contact, low foot traffic and usually a 6-foot distancing, the office is remaining open. Each therapist is monitoring their personal health for the your safety. We have worked diligently to disinfect the office multiple times each day. Our focus remains the same— caring for the mental health of our patients especially during this crisis and ensuring their experience is grounded in trust and safety. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns by responding here or you can call/text 317-992-1919. Thank you.
