Therapy with Charla

Therapy with Charla Charla Yearwood, is a therapist specializing in EMDR, people-pleasing, imposter syndrome, confidence building, and transitions.

With a focus on empathy, inclusivity, and accountability, she helps clients create more authentic, fulfilling lives. I’m Charla Yearwood, a therapist with a deep commitment to helping people heal, grow, and live in alignment with their true selves. With over 15 years of experience in social work and mental health, I’ve learned the power of creating a space where people feel they can show up fully as they are. My approach is rooted in empathy, social justice, and a belief in the value of each individual’s story. Together, we’ll explore the parts of your past that need healing, work through the pressures of perfectionism, and find ways to build genuine, meaningful connections. I integrate approaches like acceptance and commitment therapy and EMDR, but mostly, I show up to listen and support you as you take steps toward a life that feels balanced, fulfilling, and true to who you are.

I'm facilitating a discussion on incorporating anti oppressive principles into clinical practice and other topics include nerodivergent affirming practices, insights from an end of life doula, polyvagal informed interventions, financial social work, and pet loss and grief.

Being kind means being honest. Even if that honesty stings.

Therapists often tiptoe around hard truths, hoping clients will recognize a need to change on their own. But what if they don’t? What if the most ethical thing we can do is say, “You’re part of the problem,” and walk with them from there?

That question came up in a recent supervision session, and I've been sitting with it ever since.
Here’s where I landed:
