Jamarra Smith-Massey MA, CYM, LMFTA Here to improve self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-awareness. Love yourself where you are! Hi, I am Jamarra! Are you seeking to find peace? Let it out!

Are you struggling with maintaining the relationships in your life? Striving to enter an era of healing in your life? Looking to improve your self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-awareness? Are you feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, and/or sad? Struggling to make it through the day, and feeling as if there are not enough hours in a day? I would love to work with you! I specialize in working with individuals (children and adults), couples, and families by focusing on positive experiences, positive individual traits, and positive intuitions. My goal is to help you recognize where you are in life, where you want to be, and how to get there. Therapy is self care. Have you ever wondered why you're dealing with anxiety so much? It's because, it was never meant to stay on the inside of you. You deserve good support, and you deserve to feel better.

Therapy Thought of the Day: Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Dr. King reminded us that healing isn’t passive, it’s courageous, intentional, and often uncomfortable. Justice, equality, and peace don’t come from silence or avoidance; they come from people willing to reflect, speak up, and choose humanity even when it’s hard.

Today is more than remembrance, it’s an invitation.
To examine our biases.
To challenge systems that harm.
To practice empathy, accountability, and love in real, daily ways.

Healing ourselves and healing our communities are deeply connected.
What’s one way you can carry that work forward today?

Therapy Thought of the Day: Busy doesn’t mean balanced

When life gets busy, it’s easy to put yourself last. Rest becomes optional, emotions get postponed, and survival mode quietly takes over.

But being busy doesn’t mean being okay. And productivity doesn’t replace presence.
Slow down where you can. Check in with yourself. You matter just as much as the things on your to-do list.

A Title Change Doesn’t Change My Purpose!

People might try to strip away our titles, call us “not professional enough,” challenge what our degrees mean, or redefine our roles. But listen: that doesn’t change why we do this work.

Whether or not the system validates “therapy” as a “professional” degree, we’ve already shown up. We trained. We learned. We sat with people in their darkest moments and witnessed transformation firsthand. We’re not just fighting to keep a title, we’re holding space, offering real care, and validating what healing actually looks like. This isn’t something a title gives us, it’s something the work proved.

Titles are external. Purpose is internal. And our purpose is bigger than a label.

Therapy Thought of the Day: New Month, New Challenges, New Growth

With new beginnings come opportunities, but also challenges and unexpected endings. Life doesn’t slow down just because the calendar changes.

Stay present. Stay aware. Prepare your mind and your boundaries. Growth often walks hand-in-hand with difficulty, and resilience is built in the moments you stay steady amidst the storm.

Embrace what’s coming, learn from what ends, and keep moving with intention.

Therapy classes give you tools to handle stress, communicate better, understand your child’s needs, and strengthen your relationship with them. Investing in yourself as a parent isn’t a sign you’re failing, it’s proof you care enough to keep getting better.

Therapy Thought of the Day: Intentions Aren’t Enough, Tune Into Others

You want to show up for people the way you’d like them to show up for you, but here’s the thing: not everyone has the same needs, love languages, or ways they want to be treated. What feels supportive or loving to you might feel overwhelming, annoying, or even unhelpful to someone else.

The better approach? Communication over assumption. Instead of trying to be the friend or partner you want, ask the people you care about what they actually need, and show up that way.

Good intentions are nice, but meaningful support comes from tuning into them, not projecting your own preferences.

Therapy Thought of the Day: Happy Spooky Season! 🎃

This season is a fun reminder that it’s okay to face a little fear, embrace the unknown, and confront what scares you, just like we do in therapy. Life can feel spooky at times, but each “ghost” we face is an opportunity to grow stronger and braver.

Take time this season to honor your feelings, set boundaries, and celebrate the small wins. Even in the scary moments, you are capable of courage, resilience, and joy.

What “spooky” challenge will you face with bravery this season?

Therapy Thought of the Day: Channel Your Energy Into You

It’s easy to pour your time, energy, and effort into everyone else, work, relationships, responsibilities, until there’s nothing left for yourself. But when all your energy goes outward, you risk losing your balance inward.

Redirect some of that power back into you. Invest in your healing, your peace, your growth, your joy. The energy you give yourself multiplies and strengthens everything else around you.

What’s one way you can pour into you today?

Therapy Thought of the Day: Stand for Something, or You’ll Fall for Anything

When you don’t know your values, boundaries, or non-negotiables, it becomes easy to get swept away by other people’s opinions, pressure, or drama. Standing for nothing leaves your peace, and your purpose, vulnerable.

Knowing what you believe, what you deserve, and what you won’t compromise on is not rigidity, it’s self-respect. Your life flows better when your choices are rooted in clarity, not convenience.

What are you standing for today?

Therapy Thought of the Day: Life’s Tests Won’t Stop, Because You’re Meant to Grow

Sometimes it feels like life keeps throwing the same challenges your way, like you’re stuck in a loop of tests you just can’t seem to pass. But what if those tests aren’t meant to break you, but to build you?

Every challenge is an opportunity to learn, grow, and show up stronger than before. It’s okay to stumble. It’s okay to feel tired. But don’t let the repeated tests convince you that you’re failing, you’re preparing.

Keep going. Your breakthrough is on the other side of persistence.

Therapy Thought of the Day: Breaking Generational Curses Is Brave Work

Generational curses don’t always look like spells; they look like silence, dysfunction, unhealed trauma, emotional avoidance, and patterns that repeat through generations.

When you choose to heal, to set boundaries, to speak what was once unspoken. You’re not just changing your life, you’re changing the lives that come after you.

It’s not easy. It often feels heavy. But every time you choose growth over survival, awareness over autopilot, and healing over hiding—you are breaking the cycle.

You are the shift your lineage has been waiting for.
