People believe you’re too sensitive or bossy but never autistic…

So, let’s clear it up.

Autism is a neurological difference and largely an internal personal experience.

From the outside this might look like social difficulties, sensory sensitivity, and difficulty with emotional regulation. There is so much going on inside someone’s head.

Autistic adults feel lost for years, decades often before getting answers.

We need better access to identification and the earlier the better. We don’t have to hate ourselves. We can have answers and support to navigate our unique challenges.

Language is everything. Labels help us find self-acceptance.

I have not had many people to talk to about this.

My story starts long long ago… when I was a toddler at dinner my family passed ketchup under the table. I was afraid of it. I didn’t want to even see it near me without crying.

You may not see the connection, read on friend…

Why I hate ketchup still today is valid.

SOUNDS: I am very sensitive to noise and the bottles back in the day were even louder I swear.

TOUCH: It is slimey and gross to wipe off

SMELL: It is a strong scent that is not appealing to me in any way

It was deeper than I could tell anyone about. Everything was. I struggled to eat most of my life. Eat enough or eat too much.

Sometimes the idea of eating is awful. I cannot force food in my mouth without getting nauseous. Anxiety and my emotions greatly impact my ability to eat.

I struggle in a BIG way with food choices. I have staples but they have to switch around. Most of the time I try something new I regret it a little. I am a creature of habit and consistency.

I eat pepperoni on pizza now. For many years cheese or I was OUT 🍕

I don’t eat salad or lettuce ever🥬

I have extensive thoughts on food if you have questions, let’s get into it! I’m not the expert in food but we have to talk about it more.

I have a lifetime of food issues.

When did you know though?!

I remember when I started thinking that I was autistic for the first time. Well I found out that I had adhd then a few months later the wheels kept turning.

Understanding my autism helped my world come together after breaking it down. It was a huge challenge to work through at first. I was in a pretty deep burnout.

Most of us identify we’re autistic because we’re struggling deeply. We’re crashing.

The endless contradictions that come with being an autistic ADHDer hit me every day.

Go on, COMMENT ‘100’ and do the quiz, see how many more hit the spot for you!

You’re not too much, you’re just neurodivergent.

You’re feeling more validated.

Accepting your neurodivergence and understanding what makes you different can help improve confidence.

I always knew I was different. The labels autism and ADHD helped me accept myself on a new level.

Maybe you relate.
