"Wait… am I allowed to laugh in here?" OF COURSE!!
There’s a common myth that trauma therapy has to be 50 minutes of heavy, grueling silence or like....going over every detail that happened to you (you actually never have to say it if you don't want to!). And while we still absolutely do the deep work, healing also sounds a lot like… this. ⬆️
When you do "body-first" work like Brainspotting, you aren't just reliving the past. You are releasing it. And often, on the other side of a major breakthrough or a nervous system release, there is:
✨ Pure relief.
✨ A sense of lightness.
✨ Actual, genuine laughter.
Laughter isn't a distraction from the work; it’s a sign that your body finally feels safe enough to let its guard down. It’s a sign of regulation.
If you’ve been putting off therapy because you’re afraid of the "heavy," I’m here to tell you that we make room for the light, too. We cry, we process, and we definitely crack up.
