When this sweet mama started working with me, she was feeling discouraged from "failing" Weight Watchers again.
After her daughter was born, she noticed that there were a lot of changes all at once: her body, her appetite, her mental health. And food was a comfort for all of it.
Weight Watchers taught that food was either "good" or "bad". She was making "healthy versions" of junk food and trying to avoid her favorite foods by keeping them out of her house. She packed her lunches with only healthy foods.
She had heard about intuitive eating but the unconditional permission concept scared her because she was already binge eating.
Over the past few months, we've been working to change her mindset. Instead of restricting, we are focusing on full permission, less shame, and regular nourishment. We have talked through the scary parts of intuitive eating and weight changes.
