We had a fantastic day of training at Jefferson County Health Center! Our mobile simulation program created a realistic environment for providers to practice high-stakes scenarios without leaving their campus.

Here’s what went down ⬇

In the Hospital: Surgical teams dove deep into Malignant Hyperthermia protocols, sharpening the skills needed for this rare but critical emergency.

In the Truck: ER and Inpatient staff took on the hot seat, managing everything from chest pain to cardiac arrest and syncope with fall scenarios.

Seconds save lives! ⏱️ We recently went to WinnMed to put their Ambulance and ED teams through the wringer with high-intensity stroke and cardiac arrest simulations. The goal? Turning low-frequency scenarios into high-speed muscle memory. When the stakes are at their highest, these pros are ready to move swiftly and decisively!

Last week in Bettendorf, MercyOne Genesis Ambulance crews took on high-acuity emergency scenarios.

A tractor rollover. A patient in shock. A chest pain call that turns into cardiac arrest.
Tourniquets. CPR. Airway management. Defibrillation. Pacing.

Every simulation demanded teamwork, quick thinking, and decisive action.

Back with Dubuque Fire Department for another round of simulation training 🚑

At their request, this session focused on respiratory emergencies....adult smoke inhalation and infant RSV.

This real-world practice gives crews the opportunity to slow down, sharpen skills, and strengthen team communication before the real tones drop.

In an emergency, the only constant is change.

Last week in Lowden, crews faced two different challenges: one patient’s chest pain rapidly spiraling into cardiac arrest, and another presenting with the urgency of a stroke.

While the clinical paths for these two calls look very different, the foundation for a successful outcome was the same: focused assessment, clear communication, and decisive action.

Great work Lowden EMS for leaning into these high-pressure scenarios!

Happy Birthday to the one who keeps us all moving, our Program Coordinator, Angie! She’s been with us through every milestone - yes, even the blue truck era. 😅 We wouldn't be where we are today without her. Help us wish Angie a very happy birthday! 🥳

When seconds can mean the difference between life and death, first responders need training that feels as real as the emergencies they face. On Thursday in Mason City, that training rolled right to the airport. ⬇️Click the link in the comments to read more
