We are ecstatic to present our new Faculty spotlights of Iowa Dermatology!
Starting our photo series is Dr. Elizabeth Cusick, one of our new Mohs Surgeons, who has found a home at Iowa Dermatology! We’re so lucky to have you, Dr. Cusick! (.cusick)
Hometown: New York
Residency: University of Rochester, New York
Fellowship: Mohs Surgery, University of Iowa.
Hobbies: I love all things nature and art! More than anything, I love to be outdoors exploring. Some of my favorite things to do are bike to work, paint watercolors, write in my journal at Prairie Lights bookstore, and explore the fun trails around Iowa City.
Why Iowa: Tornado chasing originally is what drew me to Iowa, but I quickly discovered the amazing culture and literary presence in Iowa City, mushroom foraging, papermaking, geode hunting (shout out to Brian Swick, ) and most of all the warm, welcoming sense of community in our Department!
Piece of advice: The more I learn, the more I discover that I don’t know! Being comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity is all part of the process of human nature and medicine. If you follow your heart to find a community where you feel safe and supported and always try your best to do the right thing, things will work out as they meant to. You just have to trust (the sometimes very circuitous) route.
Welcome to Iowa Dermatology, Dr. Cusick!
