After more than a century, Lutheran Homes of South Carolina’s ministry continues to evolve and set standards for a comprehensive continuum of care and services for older adults. As a not-for-prot ministry of the South Carolina Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Lutheran Homes of South Carolina currently owns and manages five continuing care retirement communities, a non-medical home service and a hospice program. United by a single mission, we strive to provide a community of caring where people know with assurance that we are dedicated to promoting the well-being of older adults by helping them achieve successful aging.

Today and every day, Lutheran Homes of South Carolina proudly honors the brave men and women who have served our country. We are deeply grateful for the veterans who call our communities home, as well as the dedicated employees among us who have also worn the uniform. Your courage, sacrifice, and service continue to inspire us all.

Through our partnership with the We Honor Veterans program, Lutheran Hospice is privileged to recognize and care for veterans at the end of life, ensuring they receive the respect, gratitude, and dignity they deserve.

To all who have served—thank you. We salute you today and always. ❤️🤍💙

🎉Celebrating 25 Years of Service – Heather Sessions Dorries🎉

This week we celebrate someone who truly embodies the heart and spirit of Lutheran Homes of South Carolina and Trinity on Laurens — Heather Sessions Dorries.

Heather’s journey with Lutheran Homes of South Carolina began on Halloween, twenty-five years ago at Trinity, where she brought joy and creativity to residents as Director of Life Enrichment. From those early days, her passion for helping others live fully and meaningfully has never faded.

As she transitioned into Community Outreach, Heather became one of our strongest advocates — connecting Trinity with families, churches, and professionals across the Aiken community. Her ability to share our mission with warmth and authenticity has always been one of her greatest gifts.

In time, that same compassion and strength of leadership led her to become our Executive Director at BeWell Homes Services and now solely at Trinity — a role she carries with grace, vision, and a true servant’s heart. Heather has guided this community through challenges and celebrations alike, always with a calm presence and an unwavering belief in the good work we do here every day.

Her leadership and outreach have earned her recognition with BNI (Business Network International) for her commitment to partnership, professionalism, and helping others succeed. Her background in sociology speaks to her deep understanding of people, and her life beyond Trinity — as a wife and proud mother of four sons — reminds us that her care and leadership come from a place of genuine empathy and loyalty. Whether she’s volunteering, traveling, or simply sharing a laugh in the hallway, Heather makes Trinity feel like home.

Heather, twenty-five years is more than a milestone — it’s a legacy. You have helped shape Trinity on Laurens into the vibrant, faith-filled community it is today. On behalf of Lutheran Homes of South Carolina, our resident Priorities and every TeamMate whose life you’ve touched — thank you for leading with purpose, with heart, and with joy.
