Did you know that aging skin requires a different kind of care? As we age, our skin naturally becomes thinner and loses the fatty layer that keeps it plump and smooth. You might notice it feels drier, bruises more easily, or takes longer to heal from small scratches.

To keep senior skin healthy and comfortable this February (and beyond), try these caregiver-approved tips:

- Hydrate from the inside out: Older skin retains less moisture, so drinking plenty of water is your first line of defense against dryness.
- Moisturize immediately: Apply a fragrance-free cream or ointment right after bathing while skin is still damp to lock in hydration. (Creams work better than lotions!)
- Skip the hot water: It feels good in the cold, but hot water strips natural oils. Opt for warm water and gentle, non-soap cleansers instead.
- Humidify: February air is dry! Using a humidifier in the bedroom can prevent itching and cracking.

Healthy skin is a barrier against infection, protecting it is part of whole-body wellness. Do you have any questions?

Coping with vision loss can feel overwhelming, especially when it affects everyday tasks. The good news is that simple adjustments can make a big difference:

• Brighter, consistent lighting
• Clear walkways and less clutter
• High-contrast items (dark plates, light countertops)
• Large-print or voice-assisted devices

Just as important? Support.
Having someone there for guidance, safety, conversation, and reassurance can help seniors stay confident and comfortable at home. We're here for you when you're ready.

Learning doesn’t stop with age. Education can look different at every stage of life.. reading, learning new skills, staying curious, or simply engaging in meaningful conversations.

Staying mentally active supports confidence, connection, and overall well-being at home. Here are a few tips for learning as you age:

• Keep it small - A new recipe, hobby, or book counts
• Stay curious - asking questions and exploring interests helps keep the mind engaged
• Use what you love - learn through things you already enjoy (music, gardening, history, faith, crafts)
• Practice regularly - short, consistent activities are more beneficial than doing a lot at once.
• Share your knowledge - teaching or telling stories strengthens memory and connection.
