Crooked Carrot was founded in 2011 by three partners (Silas Conroy, Johanna and Jesse Brown) after Silas and Johanna met working at Stick and Stone Farm, a certified organic vegetable farm in Ithaca, NY. While picking thousands of bunches of kale and washing carrots in an unheated barn through the winter, they dreamed of a farm and food business that could provide their livelihood, as well as take our local and regional food systems forward as a whole—along the way, finding opportunities to grow with Ithaca's existing community of farms and food entrepreneurs. Today, Crooked Carrot produces a variety of healthy, delicious products, using traditional techniques and fresh ingredients, exclusively sourced from over 20 farms within 30 miles of Ithaca, NY--all either certified organic, certified naturally grown, or Northeast Farming Association Farmers' Pledge.
