35 bed acute care hospital, in operation for over 70 years, with services which include inpatient care, swingbed services, alcohol and drug detox program (New Hope Detox), 24 hour Emergency Room, clinical lab, radiology, ultrasound, mammography, C.T., M.R.I.. Outpatient services also include Medicaid physical therapy, outpatient infusions, Vein Clinic, Weight loss and Hydration services (Essential Care Clinic), Occupational Health Services (Jackson Occupational Health). JMC operates one primary care clinic (JMC Urgent Care), one Rural Health Clinic (Family Medical Clinic) and Jackson Home Health.

What you need to know about your child's cold & cough! 🤧

Every parent has experienced the frustration of having kids in school or daycare and your child seemingly being sick ALL THE TIME! 😑 You are at the doctor's office 3-4 times thinking something MUST be going on! Am I right?! ‼️

👉 Here's the thing! A HEALTHY child gets 6-10 viral respiratory infections in a winter season. Each one of these 6-10 infections last symptomatically 2-3 weeks- meaning during the winter, your child is symptomatic most of every month! 😅

70-90% of these symptoms of: cough, congestion, nasal drainage are viral. The virus causes 1️⃣ inflammation of the airway, 2️⃣ that inflammation then causes mucus production and 3️⃣ a cough! Those symptoms often continue even after the virus has gone away!

🗣️ Your child gets exposed to virus #1. Each virus last 2-3 weeks. While they are getting over virus #1, they get exposed to virus #2 and so forth and so on! Therefore you have a season arc where they seem constantly symptomatic except for a possible brief dip of 2-3 days. 👎

🍯 What helps! Nasal saline & honey decrease inflammation, improves healing of the airway & decreases cough symptoms!
