YOU ARE INVITED! Redefining Wellness Discussion & Soak – November 16, 2024
9:30-11 Presentation/Discussion
11-12:45 Complimentary Soak at

As we deepen our understanding about links between our physical and mental health, we continue to struggle as a society with obsessive focus on bodyweight as the main indicator of health. Is there a better way to move forward? How can we incorporate our relationship with food, physical movement, and our bodies for increased health and wellbeing? How do we let go of unhelpful thoughts around bodyweight/shape/size and shift our focus toward how we care for ourselves more holistically?

This is the focus of the monthly Redefining Wellness group facilitated by , therapist and dietitian at . The group provides a safe space (free of charge) to explore the many aspects of our
lives that contribute to our physical and mental health.

Join us on November 16, 2024, for a special Redefining Wellness event at Astoria. Tanya Mark, local health and wellbeing coach, intuitive eating counselor, and body-positive facilitator, will join Mary Ryan to facilitate a conversation on self-love. It is through a practice of self-love that we move away from self-criticism towards a more peaceful
relationship with ourselves. With self-love, we treat our bodies with the honor they deserve for the brilliant work they
do to keep us alive. The event will begin with Mary and Tanya’s brief presentation, an interactive discussion, from 9:30am-11:00 followed by a complimentary soak from 11:00am-12:45pm.

Exciting news! I've been accepted into the Master of Social Work Graduate Program at Boise State University. My wonderful nutrition and wellness coaching clients can still count on me for coaching through this fall and winter, and my future plans include seeking the L.C.S.W. credential to expand my services to include mental health counseling.

HEALTHY BODY IMAGE IN MENOPAUSE MATTERS ✨✨✨

“While menopause is having a moment debunking hormone replacement therapy myths from the 2002 Women’s Health Initiative, there’s one other toxic menopause narrative that must be addressed. We’re expected to conform to cultural body shape and size ideals that don’t honor the natural body changes that occur in menopause and with aging.

As a postmenopausal woman I’ve experienced those shifts. And as a health care professional I’m concerned that unrealistic body standards can create a never-ending war with our bodies. Those ideals damage our body image and self-esteem and can lead to disordered eating and exercise behaviors that are normalized in midlife and beyond.

To truly advance menopause well-being, health care professionals must honor midlife-and-beyond body changes and shift away from the body-control narrative to help our patients and clients focus on body care, capability and gratitude instead.”

Would love to hear your thoughts on longevity!

“Longevity — do you need to biohack your health?

It’s a Saturday morning and I call my 87-year-old dad and ask him what he’s up to. He’s just finished a “sort of interesting” book about the railroads in the Northeast from Boston to Washington. In turn, he asks me about my day. I share that I’m researching longevity, or more specifically health span, which Dr. Peter Attia, author of “Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity,” defines as the period of life that one is healthy.”

Oh, so you thought, I know two old people,” he chuckled referring to himself and my 89-year-old mother.

“Well yes,” I said. “Is there anything you’d like to say about it?”

“What I did in my early years amounted to health in my later years,” my dad, Walter Mark, said. And of course, some good luck and genetics.

My grandparents, Grandpa and Grandma Mark, lived healthfully to 98 years old (despite smoking two-thirds of his life) and 97.

“Your father is going to live forever,” I hear my mom yell in the background. I picture her slowly eating her routine breakfast of Chobani yogurt with grapes and hot tea while crouched over the Baltimore Sun, easily solving the latest crossword puzzle. I know she’ll be headed out for her “nice” daily walk “if the weather’s nice.”

Humans have been digging for answers on how to live longer for ages, but what’s changed is that longevity and health span are now buzzwords.”

Join me and Amy Hennessey, yoga instructor for Beaver Creek Colorado Ski Patrol, this Labor Day Weekend at the Teton Yoga Festival as we co-present “Body Gratitude: Cultivating A Self-Love Practice.”

We know that we’re more than our bodies, yet self-conscious or self-doubting thoughts may still creep in both on and off our mats. How to show love for ourselves and our unique bodies can be challenging in our perfectionist culture. In this session, Amy and I will facilitate a conversation: what is self-love and why is it important, and guide us through a body gratitude exercise to help initiate a self-love practice.

The Teton Yoga Festival is an inclusive 3-day retreat in the heart of the Tetons. Featuring 30 teachers and presenters, and offering more than 50 experiences, from yoga classes and workshops to inspiring lectures, intimate talks, sound healing, live music, kirtan, and dance. Eat at our pop up café, serving locally sourced organic food. Enjoy artisan vendors, and our healing sanctuary, offering wellness services. Our on-site lodging accommodations offer an inclusive experience. TYF is intended to be an intimate retreat, offering an authentic, transformative experience for all.

Grab your tickets today and save $50 (offer ends June 30). https://www.tetonyogafestival.com

Welcome to Tanya Mark Non Diet Nutrition!

Explore Your Wellness on a Deeper Level. The definition of good health goes far beyond what we eat and how we move. As a former exercise trainer, and now as a Non Diet Nutrition, Dynamic Eating Psychology and Body Image CoachI help health conscious humans make peace with food, their bodies and their whole selves. My lifestyle wellness coaching teaches you that nutrition is NOT one size fits all! It's as unique as you are. I take a WHOLE body, mind and spirit approach to nourishment. Meaning, we don’t just discuss what you’re eating.

When we look at our health and bodies from this perspective, we can make room for self-compassion, tolerance and patience. Yet American culture focuses the lens on our physical appearance, convincing us that our health is defined by our size or shape. This is a distorted idea of health.

We need to zoom out. We need to widen the lens and look deeper into an evolved definition of health. I take a non-diet, compassionate model of self-care. My coaching philosophy is based upon slowing down and listening to your inner nutritionist that will help you reclaim "body trust." WHO CAN I HELP?

Most of my clients come to me feeling frustrated and stuck with at least one of the following health concerns:
