For most people, sitting with your knees above your hips can help make it easier💩. My favorite way to get into position is with a Squatty Potty, but if you don’t have one, here are some ways you can get creative…

-Yoga blocks
-Step stool
-Textbooks
-Small bathroom garbage can on its side - I do this a lot when I travel and stay at a hotel!

If you’re out in public and don’t have anything to put your feet on, make sure your feet are flat on the ground and lean forward with your forearms on your thighs. 👍🏾

’Tis the season to check yourself and know your normal!

Once a month, take a moment to do a self-check so you get familiar with what your normal looks and feels like. This helps you quickly recognize if something ever seems different. A good way to remember: do it on the first of the month, or if you menstruate, a week after your cycle ends.

👀 Look: Use a mirror to check your breasts/chest. Notice the size, shape, and color. Look for skin changes like dimpling, and check for any ni**le discharge.
👆🏾 Feel: Use a firm, smooth touch with the pads of your fingers to feel for any lumps, bumps, or changes in the tissue.

💡 If you notice something unusual, don’t panic, but do let your medical provider know.

Drop a 🎁 in the comments if you did your self-checks this year!

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is common but that doesn’t mean you can’t do something about it! There are plenty of options for treating POP and getting rid of that pelvic pressure and heaviness that you can try before considering surgery.

How to work on improving your POP:
✅ Pelvic floor exercises (Kegels) and core/hip exercises to improve the strength, endurance, and coordination of the pelvic floor and surrounding structures to support the organs
✅ Get into a prolapse relief position by lying on your back with knees bent and a pillow under your bottom.
✅ Work on breathing and postural strategies to decrease strain on the pelvic floor
✅ Use a pessary, which is a small device you insert vaginally to support the organs. Talk to your medical provider about this option

“Telehealth pelvic floor PT?!” 🤯
Yep — you can virtual care for your "down there".

About 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men experience pelvic floor concerns at some point in their lives. And the reality is that in some states there are less than 2 pelvic PTs per 1 million people. When you put those numbers together, it’s clear there’s a huge gap in access to care for people dealing with pelvic health conditions.

💡 One way to improve access to care is by telehealth PT. From bladder leaks to cancer recovery to pelvic pain, virtual pelvic PT can help you get the care you need and make progress on tackling your symptoms – without leaving your home.
