If you're turning 26 this year and aging off your parent's job-based coverage, there are a few ways you can do to stay protected:
🎓 Special Enrollment Period: If your student health plan is ending or you have experienced other life changes like moving to a new state or getting married, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period and can get coverage for the rest of 2022.
🎓 Under your parent's plan: If you're under 26, you may be eligible to enroll in your parent's health insurance plan if their plan covers dependents. Generally, your coverage ends the month you turn 26. However, if you turn 26 by mid-year, you can stay on your parent's plan until coverage ends until December 31.
🎓 Through Medicaid: You may qualify for free or low-cost coverage Medicaid depending on your situation (working part-time, starting a business, etc.). If eligible, you can enroll immediately, and your coverage can start right away, any time of the year.
