🚨 Important Safety & Employment notice 🚨

Please avoid taking expired medications or medications that are not covered by a current, active prescription.

This can lead to a positive drug test that cannot be verified by a Medical Review Officer (MRO). If you test positive, an MRO will only validate the result for legitimate, documented medical use. Expired meds or meds without a valid prescription generally won’t be accepted as a legitimate medical explanation and could put your employment at risk.

Don't be out of a job this holiday season.

🚨CBD and Drug Testing: BUYER BEWARE🚨

Thinking about using CBD? It’s everywhere these days, and many individuals are advocating its use. But whether you work in a safety-sensitive job like transportation or aviation, or if your company requires drug testing that screens for ma*****na, you need to understand the risks.

We recently had a donor test positive on a random drug test even though they only used a CBD product labeled “THC-free.”

That label didn’t protect them. They were removed from their position and faced serious consequences from something they thought was harmless.

Here’s why this happens:
🔶CBD products are not regulated by the FDA, so labels can be inaccurate.
🔶Even “THC-free” products can still contain trace amounts of THC.
🔶Drug tests do not distinguish between THC from ma*****na and THC from CBD.

That means:
♦You could fail a drug test even if you have never used ma*****na.
♦Your intent doesn’t matter; the test result does.
♦In regulated jobs or companies with ma*****na testing policies, a positive test leads to serious consequences.

Before you try that CBD product from your local shop or online store, think twice.

Your career, your safety, and your reputation could be on the line.

🌸 Gratitude. Pride. Purpose. 🌸

This past Saturday at the Whole You Women's Wellness event, something truly powerful happened. Over 350 free health screenings were provided, serving more than 150 incredible women in our community.

Usually, when we offer health screenings, there’s some hesitation. Many are afraid to know their numbers, afraid of what the results might say. We know that the first step to improving your health is knowing where you stand. And this weekend, you all showed up bravely for yourselves.

Not only did the women in attendance say yes to one screening, many of you said yes to all three, including blood glucose, which is often the most avoided. That speaks volumes. Your courage and commitment to wellness left us inspired beyond words.

To every woman who came through, we are so proud of you. Whether you're just starting your journey or checking in on the progress you've made, thank you for trusting us to walk a part of that path with you. 💖

And to our amazing team, this couldn’t have happened without you. A heartfelt THANK YOU to Phyllis, Sherita, Melvina, Ovena, and our dedicated high school volunteers. Your energy, kindness, and hard work made a lasting impact.

Take a Moment for You

In the rush of everyday life, it’s easy to put your health on the back burner. But self-care isn’t selfish. It’s essential. It’s about listening to your body, paying attention to how you feel physically and emotionally, and taking proactive steps to stay well.

Self-care means making time for the things that bring you joy, nourish your spirit, and strengthen your mental wellness.

Self-care can be as simple as:
✨ Taking a walk in the park
✨ Laughing with a friend
✨ Doing something that brings you joy
✨ Caring for your mental wellness and dental health
✨ Seeking help when you feel overwhelmed
✨ Staying on top of regular health checks

As a lab that provides blood collections and health screenings, we see firsthand how small steps can lead to big changes.

Here’s a short story that reminds us why self-care matters. 💙

An elderly woman came in for a routine screening. She felt “mostly fine,” just a bit more tired than usual. During her visit, we performed a simple blood pressure reading. The numbers were high enough to raise a red flag. We encouraged her to follow up with her doctor.

At her follow-up appointment, her doctor ordered lab work, including a test for BNP (B-type natriuretic peptide), a marker that can indicate heart failure. The results helped confirm what her body had been quietly trying to say; she was in the early stages of congestive heart failure.

Thanks to early detection and prompt treatment, she is now managing her condition well. She still visits us with a smile, reminding us why we do what we do.

Your health speaks in quiet ways: fatigue, a skipped heartbeat, or even a subtle change in mood. Don’t ignore those signals. Self-care is listening, acting, and loving yourself enough to get checked, to rest, to move, and to seek joy.

🩸 September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month 🩸

This month, we take a moment to raise awareness about Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), a painful and lifelong condition that affects tens of thousands, especially within the Black, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, Indian, and Mediterranean communities.

What many people don’t know is that you can carry the sickle cell trait without having any symptoms. But two people who carry the trait can pass on the disease to their child, and that’s where the heartbreak often begins.

💔 Nothing hurts more than hearing someone say, “I didn’t know I had the trait,” after receiving a positive screening result for their child. That moment of shock, confusion, and guilt can feel overwhelming and preventable.

That’s why screening matters. Knowing your status early can help you make informed decisions about your future, your health, and your family.

If you or your partner haven’t been tested for the sickle cell trait, please consider doing so, especially if you’re part of a high-risk group. It’s a simple blood test that could make a world of difference.

This weekend, we got a call that reminded us why we do what we do.

A student-athlete needed a specific blood test to get cleared for the upcoming 2025-2026 sports season. It was time-sensitive, and they were having a hard time finding a lab that was open and able to help.

Our doors were open. Not just as a lab, but as people who care about the dreams, dedication, and quiet sacrifices young athletes make every day. This wasn’t just about a test. It was about making sure someone didn’t miss out on a season they’ve worked so hard for.

To that student: thank you for trusting us. We see your heart, your commitment, and your drive. And we’re proud to have played a small part in your journey.
