The holidays can bring joy… and also stress, grief, loneliness, or overwhelm.

All of it is valid.

You don’t have to force cheerfulness. You don’t have to explain your feelings. You simply can choose to honor them.

This December, we invite you to check in with yourself gently:

🌟 What am I feeling today?
🌟 What do I need most right now?
🌟 Who feels safe to reach out to?

Support is not weakness. It’s care.

If you’re feeling like the season is heavier than you expected, our therapists are here for you.🤍

We are excited to announce the newest member of our team, Lisa Strahler!

Lisa is currently a Graduate student at Liberty University, where she graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a special emphasis in Christian counseling, and is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

During her undergraduate program, she began volunteering for a sexual assault center, and was certified as a Sexual Assault Advocate in the state of Florida from 2018 to 2020. During her graduate program, she was selected to be part of a small team of students that traveled to Kosovo for an immersive study abroad opportunity where she learned firsthand how the trauma of war impacted the people in this region. Through these two unique experiences, she developed a special interest in learning more about trauma, and subsequently completed additional coursework in trauma assessment and intervention.

For the past two years, she has also worked as a health coach, and has completed a health coach certification program, approved by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching, in December of 2021, and is projected to finalize this certification in May 2022.

As a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, she is excited for the opportunity to serve her community in counseling practice!

Please help us welcome Lisa!

Tip of the Day!

Everyone has their off days, so heres a few ways you can boost your mood and increase your happiness hormones when you're feeling down!

Serotonin is our mood stabilizer, associated with satisfaction and optimism. Serotonin has a large impact on our physical health, from our quality of sleep to our appetite. This happiness hormone helps us alleviate feelings of depression and anxiety, so it is important to know ways to help increase these levels!

Dopamine is our "feel-good" hormone and drives our brains reward system. Dopamine is released when we achieve our goals, receive praise, or are anticipating some kind of important event.

Endorphins are our body's natural pain reliever, produced in response to feelings of pain or discomfort. Endorphins are also released whenever we do something that we really love doing, such as eating or exercising.

Oxytocin is referred to as the "love hormone", promoting trust, empathy, and bonding. This happiness hormone helps our body regulate stress and calms our nervous system.
