Christ wore a crown of thorns so that we might wear a crown of life.

but he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that bought us peace and with his wounds we are healed. — Isaiah 53:5

Praise God for the cross & for a Savior who loved us so that he willingly suffered, bled and died so that by his wounds he might buy us peace with God and secure our future and give us a crown of LIFE eternal.

What if we asked “Does this glorify the Lord?” Instead of “does this make me happy?”

You see — happiness is fleeting. It’s here one moment, and gone the next, very dependent on current circumstances.

But glorifying the Lord in our actions and our thoughts reaps a reward that is eternal: joy that is not based on circumstances, growth in holiness, and allows us to rest in the unchanging faithfulness and character of Christ who does not change as each day and season does. He does not change in his steadfastness towards us, he cannot love us less and he will give us wisdom to grow in holiness and make decisions that honor him day by day.

He sees and hears our cries for mercy, our songs of praise, and every unspoken and spoken word in between. He is nearer than our breath, he is more intimately acquainted with us than anyone else could ever be, and yet he loves us unconditionally. Our hearts desire this love because that is how he fashioned us. What response can we rightly return, but our love?

We know that the world feels darker than ever. What a comfort to know that darkness doesn’t win in the end, and that we have a rescuer in Christ. ❤️

When everything feels unsteady, remember that God himself is our safety and confidence. We can’t rely on circumstances or people or our own control to give us peace. He is our peace. And, when He is our peace, we are freed to let go of our grip on everything and everyone else ❤️

When we feel alone and isolated in our pain, we can take comfort in the promise that Christ is very near to us in our suffering ❤️
