Getting that time of year. Just renewed my pollum testing. I'll put a post up on site on rules for paper work or what needs to be done. Any one thinking of becoming a tester, this will show and tell you the process. If you're raising alot of birds and selling them you should think about becoming a tester. Any one just bringing eggs this year will have to have birds tested to. My stained antigen expires early July so Any testing I do will have to be done before that date. antigen out there now has same expiration date. Company supposed to be making new stuff in may. PLEASE PASS INFORMATION ON TO ALL POULTRY PROJECT MEMBERS. Meeting May 6 2026 fair grounds. Look at uw extension calendar. Remember turkey will be taking out to be judged this year. Still looking for parents to help with turkey judging. Just have to help keep birds separated. More to come

Dear Rock County poultry.
I've been one of the Superintendents of the poultry project at the fair for the past 20 plus years. Over the years I've seen young exhibitors grow up to be adults and see their children starting to show at the fair. I've seen alot of smiles, laughs, tears and some mad parents .
Like all things, time changes a person and I feel my time as Superintendent has run it's course. I'd like to Thank past Superintendents and Fairboard members for their help in the past supporting the poultry project. Also a Big Thank you to Mary Check for her help during my tenure as Superintendent. Last of all a Special Special Thank you to the helpers on judging day. Leona, Trish, Brian, Laura, Gerald,Kathleen and Jackie. Also I would like to Thank my wife Jackie for supporting this adventure all these years. So with that being said I Raymond " Buck " Reilly will be resigning from being poultry Superintendent at the end of the 2027 fair. I will be posting a booklet of what the current Superintendents do now during the year as a helpful guide . I'm hoping a few people are interested in helping the project . That's why I'm staying on till end of 2027 fair .Any one interested please reach out to me or Laura.

Thank you Raymond Reilly

Sorry for no December meeting. We had one scheduled for December 10 at Craig center but something about insurance between 4-h and Rock County. So hopefully they can get straightened out otherwise we'll have to try to get different venues to have meetings. Any body bringing standard or bantam classes should be looking or ordering birds. Also I would be putting my order in for turkey, roasters and broilers. Turkey's get as early as possible. Roasters 10 to 14 weeks before fair. Broilers 42 to 60 days before fair. With bird flu still being a threat . Practice bio security for flocks. Geese and ducks try to get early. Check Jefferson County fair calendar for animal swap. I believe there's one in end of January. Turkey exhibitors YOU WILL BE BRINGING TURKEY'S OUT OF PENS TO BE JUDGED THIS YEAR. So you will have to be there for judging. Also we will be cracking down on pen cleaning. More to come pass info on to others please. Thanks
