Mobility Worldwide

Mobility Worldwide Our mission is to empower people with the freedom of mobility, enhancing their quality of life, independence, and ability to participate in their communities.

We’ve spent the past 30+ years developing, producing, and distributing our Mobility Carts. PET International envisions a ten-fold increase in PET production and distribution by 2015.

This weekend, our Executive Director, C.J. Stanfill, joined Alice Tiesen, founder of His Wheels, to celebrate almost 20 years of service and impact.

As His Wheels officially closes its doors, we’re grateful for their lasting impact in the mobility community.

His Wheels dedicated its efforts to designing and manufacturing hand-pedaled trikes for people with disabilities. Their legacy will continue through the work of Mobility Worldwide.

In Kanthonga Village, Malawi, the rainy season can wash everything away.

For Joseph, rain used to mean months of being stuck indoors. The mud made movement impossible. Although he wanted to own a grocery shop, his disability limited his dreams.

That changed when our partners at Action for Progress delivered a new Mobility Cart. Joseph was able to start his shop and become an active part of his community.

Today, he owns a small grocery shop and is known throughout his village as an example of what’s possible.

His guardian said, “We now buy groceries from his shop, and he is an example for disabled people that disability does not limit them to inability. In our village, he is like a torch that you can see from afar. Everyone knows him, and you cannot fail to see him.”

Gbessay, 41, lives in Bo, Sierra Leone. Diagnosed with polio at age four, he’s never let his disability define him.

He received his first Mobility Cart in 1998 and this year he received a new one!

He continues to travel five miles each day with his cart to his tailoring shop, where he works and trains apprentices. Gbessay is passionate about helping others with disabilities gain the skills and confidence to build their own independence.

He’s known in his community not for his limitations, but for his leadership and as a father of five.

“I’m getting a Mobility Cart? And it’s free?”

There’s so much joy and excitement for the recipient who is getting their mobility back, but also for their community.

Thank you, Rose Farhat, Director of Women of the Lutheran Church in Liberia, for sharing this story during our panel at the 2025 Annual Conference.

This year at our Annual Friendship banquet, we introduced a new award: The Community Builder Award.

This award honors an individual whose leadership, collaboration, and compassion strengthen the Mobility Worldwide family, both within their shop and across all affiliates.

This year’s recipient, Gary Moreau, has spent years bringing people together. Through his dedication and heart for others, Gary has helped build more than carts. He’s also helped build a community focused on helping bring mobility to others.

Congratulations, Gary, and thank you for showing what it means to move forward together.
