⭐️Staff Spotlight⭐️

Today’s spotlight is another one of our great physicians, Dr. Ralph Mills! Dr. Mills is born and raised in Tennessee. He joined the BucSports team in 2003 and has been an ETSU team physician since 2004. He attended medicinal school right here at ETSU and graduated in 1984. He completed his residency with ETSU Family Physicians of Kingsport, was named “Most Outstanding Senior Resident”, and was the youngest licensed physician in the state of Tennessee! Besides being one of the ETSU Athletics team physicians, Dr. Mills is also the team physician for Daniel Boone High School and David Crockett High School. You may have seen him while he was organizing physicals for over 1,000 middle and high school students in the local area or around Johnson City coaching his son’s little league baseball team! Dr. Mills played baseball in college and loves attending all sporting events. If you see him around the community, make sure to say hi!

⭐️Staff Spotlight⭐️

Today’s staff spotlight is one of our physicians, Dr. Jay Johnston! Dr. Johnston was a member of the military (including the Marines and the U.S. Army) from 1996-2013. While in the military, he was an Infantryman and a Green Beret. He served on the the Special Forces as a Medical and Team Sergeant. During this time, he was awarded multiple awards for her service and dedication. After the military, Dr. Johnston attended James H. Quillen College of Medicine here at ETSU to obtain is M.D. After his residency at Kingsport Family Medicine and his fellowship at AnMed Sports Medicine, Dr. Johnston returned to Johnson City to work at BucSports Medicine. When he is not working, Dr. Johnston enjoys spending time with his wife, Elizabeth, and his three sons, building all different projects, and being outdoors.

⭐️Staff Spotlight⭐️

Our next staff spotlight is another one of our awesome Ortho and X-ray techs Kelly Neel! Kelly grew up in Southern California and moved to Tennessee in 2003. She met her husband through racing and working in the professional motocross industry. Although she now competes in triathlons, she still finds time to motocross race. On top of motocross and triathlon races, Kelly, her husband and daughter like to wakeboard and surf on the lake. Kelly is very active and her favorite thing about working at BucSports Medicine is coming up with treatment plans to help athletes get back into the action!

Last week Dr. Jay Johnston attended the AOSSM Youth to NFL course in New Orleans. Staying up to date on the best treatments and advancements of care is what we do here at BucSports Medicine. We continue to strive to take the best care of our D1, high school and youth football players in the Tri cities. Go Bucs!

⭐️ Staff Spotlight ⭐️

This week’s Staff Spotlight is one of our physical therapists, Emily Grieshaber! Emily graduated from ETSU in 2018 with her doctorate degree in physical therapy. She completed her residency specializing in cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy and returned to ETSU to complete a manual physical therapy fellowship. Emily was a former college athlete and really enjoys working with the athletic population. Emily loves the atmosphere and sense of teamwork here at BucSport Medicine. When Emily is not at work, you can find her in Elizabethton at her open horse show or around the country judging horse shows. Emily also runs a small business where she helps animals recover from injuries.
