Thank you to everyone who came to the Ribbon Cutting & Grand Opening of my trauma therapy private practice, Healing Place, in downtown Joliet hosted by Latino Economic Development Association.
I dedicated my new practice to my most beloved familia of Cyclebreakers, my siblings and my cousins: especially Dan, Robert, Eddie, Nathan, Arthur and Serena. I love you. My entire social work career is dedicated to you, survivors of childhood trauma & the people who fostered our resilience.
I am still overwhelmed by the sheer number of individuals and organizations that came out to support me, sent flowers, emails, texts, calls and snail mail. The storm had nothing on Healing Place! We celebrated National Social Work month in style.
My trauma therapy private practice is based on a therapy guided imagery technique called Safe Place where you choose a place, real or imaginary, engaging all 5 senses, to reduce anxiety and create calm. Mine is based on my “Grandpa” Joe’s home.
I tried to be careful with mentioning names but I do want to give more gratitude to Bonnie Altiery Higgenbotham, my foster mom for attending.
Thank you to the City of Joliet & our elected officials who spoke as well. Especially my friend Cesar Cardenas who referred me to Diana Viveros at LEDA and who reminds me to always give gratitude to my husband, Aaron Neumayer.
The ribbon cutting would not have happened without my dearest friends who created my logo, website and had meetings with me late at night and early in the morning. The people who are my Calm in the Chaos.
The Healing Place Team, Isabel Gloria, Juan Guzman and Haydee Martinez. We will be officially taking insurance by the end of this month!
This ribbon cutting would also not have happened without the Kind, Hard working, Generous Support of the people who make up these businesses in our downtown community: Michele Arana at Internode Greenery & Market, Social Butterfly Coffee, Sue Regis Glass Art, Waywards Art Haus, DVS Solutions & of course, Unidos Marketing Network
