Crave BREAD? I sure do…

There are several types of breads that are healthier than others…

Processed white bread found in just about all fast-food buns and most grocery store loafs 🍞 are loaded with preservatives and spike blood sugars as fast and high as a can of Coca Cola… just look at ingredients- if bleached and or enriched flour is in there; especially in first 3 ingredients, and there are ingredients you can’t pronounce, then skip it!!

Sprouted ancient grain breads and natural sour dough breads are your two best choices (be careful for imitation sour dough breads in the bread isle; get it from the bakery and ask if it’s authentic).

😋 Sour dough bread is fermented so prebiotics make it more nutritious and easier to digest

😋 it’s also lower glycemic so doesn’t spike blood sugars nearly as fast or as high as regular bread… add salmon or avocado, and you have a healthy snack or meal

😋 sour dough also has less gluten than traditional breads

😋 and it’s lower in FODMAPs and higher in lactic acid, which means lower in phylates which are harmful acids.

I recommend limiting bread to just once or twice per week max, but it truly depends on your heathy goals and your sensitivity to bread/gluten. If you’re trying to lose weight (especially more than 15 lbs.), try avoiding bread for several weeks to kickstart your metabolism.

Here’s one of my favorite ways to enjoy bread!!

1/2 slices with avocado, tomato 🍅 and everything bagel seasoning

1/2 slices with chive cream cheese and salmon

1/2 slice with plain cream cheese and jam

I am so grateful to have the opportunity to share the Rock Steady Boxing program! We always have an opening topic for the boxers and last week was “What is your why?” With much emotion he shared, “Each day I can come to Rock Steady is one less day I am in a nursing home.”
St. Bernards Health & Wellness offers this program. If you are not in the NEA Arkansas area most likely there is a Rock Steady Program near you. If you know someone with Parkinson’s get them there. The sooner the better.

Drink more water 𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗡 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗧!!! FACT: If the human body consumes 16 oz. of water in a given hour, the metabolic rate can spike by as much as 30% for the next 30 to 40 mins! By committing to drinking 𝟭/𝟮 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘇 of water each day, you can expect to lose 2 plus lbs w/in the first week alone. FOR REAL.
𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗛𝗬? Bc there is a single enzyme (called lipase) that MUST be activated in your body in order to mobilize fat (i.e. get rid of it). Water is one of the many necessary components in the activation of Lipase In other words, your fat loss is LIMITED if you aren't drinking enough H2O.
𝙉𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙨 to chug-a-lug? Adequate water intake will also:
*improve mental clarity
*curb cravings
*suppress appetite
*lubricate and cushion achy joints
*help clear skin
*keep you sane in 105 degree heat
Get your water bottle, flavor it if needed, & use our 10-Gulp Rule (each time your lips touch the jug, take 10 gulps). Your body, face, mind, & scale will thank you!

You rush around so much sometimes that I feel like I can barely get a word in edgewise with you. You schedule every minute of your day from early morning to late at night and nowhere in there do I see time scheduled for you to tap into me.
Burning the candle at both ends isn’t just a phrase, Dear One. It is what happens when you draw off of everything that I have to give you without taking time to replenish me and fan my flames.
Stop what you’re doing. Create emergency space on your overflowing calendar, and do nothing other than live where you are right in this moment. Tune in, tap in and turn off the to-do list. See that little glow right there? That’s me. I missed you.
