You’re feeling like it must be you.

>>You have no discipline

>>You can’t stick with the plan

>> You’re lazy

>>You just aren’t meant to have energy, vitality, or feel good in your own body

❓What if it’s not you. What if it’s the program?

→In most cases, this is the truth of the matter.

You get all excited, you find a program because it promises big results fast, or maybe even that it’s for all fitness levels. Surely you’ll be able to do this!

However, the program is not individualized, you work really hard but aren’t seeing any results. You’re even more exhausted. . .

For a while you push through. Because that’s who you are. You are determined and always before you’ve been able to push your way to success. But it just ain’t happening this time and you’re becoming less consistent because you’ve got nothing to hold on to.

Sister. It’s not you.

It’s the program.

Come. Let’s talk about it from your body’s perspective. There’s so much more to consider after 50. What other things is your body dealing with?

Chronic illness?

Lack of Sleep?

Chronic Stress?

Lack of any real nutrition?

One of the biggest things that hold you back is setting a date to start.

It leads to not ever starting.

Maybe you won’t start with everything together if you start now. But you’ll start.

If you wait until you have all your plans in order, have indulged one last time, and know exactly what you’re doing you will never start. Those things are elusive and there are people in great shape, at their goal weight, and loving their health who still are wanting to tweak their “plan”

It’s a lifelong endeavor and the best time to start is now.

Only 10% of people accomplish their New Year’s goals.

Chances are that’s been you in past years.
Statistically speaking.

It’s not your fault…
Especially with health goals. Why?

Our healthcare system and fitness industry are like two mountains. The healthcare (or sick care) system is equipped to help you in a crisis…

Heart attack? >>> they’ve got you

Stroke? >>> You’re chances of walking out of there are amazing these days

Pneumonia? >>> They know just what to do.

But,

Chronic back pain.

Brain Fog.

Metabolic Dysfunction.

Menopause trauma.

Mobility decline.

Lack of Energy.

Let’s just say if you experience anything similar to the above problems you feel like you’re at the bottom of that mountain stairing up with no handholds, rope or even boots!

Nope. You’re stuck there in that valley with no way out.

Eventually, you turn to the fitness mountain on the other side of you.

Now, the fitness industry has made huge strides since the 80’s of aerobics classes where you needed to have some dance talent to keep up with the fancy steps and the endurance of an ultra-runner with the hour long classes.

We’ll give them that.

But, if you have any of the above conditions and you’ve signed up for a class for “all fitness levels” you feel the depths of the valley and see the obscure, brier covered path to scale that mountain.

💭 Imagine yourself confidently getting up and down out of a deep comfy chair with your newborn grandchild, safely - and unassisted.

What about your future great grandchild? Can you imagine that?

What about getting up off the floor after playing with your sweet 8 month old grandbaby while holding him? Is that a fitness goal that would be meaningful to you?

Can you imagine chasing after 3 or 4 preschoolers at the park all day, then still having energy to cook dinner and take a stroll that night?

If you can get behind these types of goals, the THRIVE in ‘25 challenge is for you. Even if you’ve never stuck with a fitness plan in your life!.

If you’re so exhausted that you can barely make it through the day without a nap (and definitely without a break or two) the posts for challenges for getting your body “bikini ready” are probably already irking you.

You know that even though they say “for all fitness levels” you’d be left in the dust from the first workout forward, and you’d be so sore within the first week that you can’t even sit on the toilet!

As a matter of fact. You’ve been there.

…Most Januarys to be exact.

And you’re tired of the start - stop cycle and never realizing your fitness goals. 🛑

It’s not your fault that those program’s weren’t tailored to your body, your life, and your unique challenges. 🔄 No wonder you felt hopeless and quit. Or worse yet, you kept going but saw very little results 🫣

If you’d like to be making it through the days with energy to spare (no nap needed) as early as February, give me a shout-out in the comments and join the revolution of women in their 50s who are excited about living life, who still have something to contribute to their communities and families,
… and who have the audacity to plan on hiking, shopping, entertaining and throwing their great grandchildren up in the air in their 90s!

…maybe mid 90s we’ll take up a mid-day nap. maybe 😉

When we’re in the thick of trying to get somewhere new, we often get hung up on the bumps, turns and twists.

🚗 We’re sure we know how to get there. It’s how we’ve done it before, after all!

🏔️But hitting wellness goals after 50 might look a little different for many reasons.

You KNOW consistency is the key to achieving your health goals…

BUT…

Are you holding yourself to a healthy level of consistency?

FACTS:

a hard workout when you’re sick or in a high state of stress can actually be counterproductive. We each have a threshold of capacity. Exercise is a stressor for your body. That’s a good thing, but when stress, illness, or other personal variables cause you to reach your physical capacity, adding a stressor of exercise into the mix can cause injury, worsen your chronic symptoms, or at the very least make you feel like crap.

Working out, pushing through, ignoring the messages your body is sending you can work against you.

Let me be clear, I don’t advocate skipping workouts because you just don’t feel it that day. If that were the case, I’d only workout 1/2 the time 🫣

What I’m talking about is not beating ourselves up because we can’t stick to our “plan” some days. When we do this we end up thinking we failed, and eventually quitting.

A better strategy is to think of what we CAN do that day to remain consistent.

Maybe we go on a long walk instead.

Or perhaps, if we’re sick, it looks like a long nap or going to bed early.

If we’re under a lot of stress, maybe we can sit in the sun, or go out into nature. Or maybe that day it looks like a sauna or massage.

Maybe something comes up and we can’t eat on plan. How can we work with what time and options we have to support our body?

The way we’ve been conditioned to think about fitness is all or nothing and we’re a big fat failure if we miss one workout, eat something off plan, or don’t hit that 10,000 step goal. A more productive approach is to be real about what we can do at this point in our life, or day and adjust.

Adjust your day to support your body and meet it’s needs the best you can and according to what it needs on that particular day.

There ARE things scarier than being exhausted, overweight, out of shape, and unhealthy!

… and that is being all these things with healthcare practitioners and fitness experts gaslighting you into thinking you’re having trouble getting well because you’re lazy, non-compliant, and just don’t understand the consequences.

(Or it’s all just part of the normal aging process 🫣)

This Mistake is costing you time, energy, brain function, and ultimately your independence later on…

Been there, done that. You want the extra weight off

You’ll just try this new diet with big promises. THEN after you’ve lost the weight you’ll eat right (giving your body the nutrients it needs to thrive)

But I’ll wager you’ve done this before.

actually recommends her clients DON’T start with a calorie deficit 😱 and I love this!

Learning to eat nutritionally dense food, finding your satiation mechanism again, giving your body a chance to regulate hormones, and changing your relationship with food can give you a solid base for easier weight loss that you can actually keep off!

Yo-yo dieting (losing weight, then gaining it back) is a major factor in weight loss resistance as well as contributing to brain fog and dementia!

➕ I’d also like to add that if you also resistance train, you can start changing your body composition while in this process of feeding your body what it needs 👀

The number on the scale might not change, but you’ll look better and feel better in your clothes and skin.

So kick that fad diet to the curb and feed your body nutritionally dense foods it needs to work with you.

Your on again, off again relationship with exercising is biting you in the butt…

Exercise of any kind won’t help if you’re using it to punish your body for:

>>> not being small enough

>>> not being able to do what you want

>>> not looking like you want it to

Why?

💥 you can’t be consistent enough

💥 your nervous system will work against you

💥 your emotions will sabotage you
