2025 Community Impact Series 💗

Michigan reached its lowest recorded infant mortality rate in state history and MDHHS continues to focus efforts on keeping moms and babies healthy through the Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies initiative that was launched in 2021 to improve health outcomes and reduce disparities. It includes the expansion of postpartum Medicaid coverage to one year after birth and programs designed to assist families through pregnancy, birth and beyond, such as doula services and the Centering Pregnancy model of care.

Something that doesn’t get talked about enough?
Good care providers.

My feed is often full of fear. 🫣
But that isn’t usually the story I see.

I’ve attended so many beautiful hospital births where you can feel the trust in the room.
Skilled hands.
Respect for autonomy.
Women supported through long labor with dignity.

Not every hospital story is trauma.
Some are collaboration.
Some are redemption.
Some are healing.

Families and caregivers forming bonds that last far beyond discharge papers.
I feel honored to serve women alongside care teams like this.

It really does take a village. 💕
