Hi everyone, the following was shared by one of our fellow archery enthusiasts. This meeting is not exclusive MBA members but anyone who wants to attend. The other change to region 1 not discussed in the following is that general elk tags will not be valid for cow elk during archery season. If you would like a chance to share your thoughts or ask questions please join us. If you let me know you are coming that would also be helpful so we know around how many to expect.
I do ask that anyone who wants to attend to ensure they remain respectful, we don't need any heated discussions or "table pounding"
Thanks everyone!
Region 1 cow elk discussion
The Montana Bowhunters Association will be felicitating this meeting with R1 commissioner Ian Wargo this is for all bow hunters and anyone else interested.
A part of the discussion at the Pint Night was the recent changes to R1 hunting opportunities, specifically cow elk hunting only on private land. The discussion also turned to predator management which is always a hot topic.
MBA has reached out to Region 1 Commissioner Ian Wargo and asked if he would be willing to have a meeting with MBA members and he graciously accepted. The meeting will be on Tuesday, February 10th from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. It will be at an office located at 125 Schoolhouse Loop Kalispell, MT
This is a great opportunity to let our voices be heard as well as hear from Mr. Wargo.
Should Montana have mandatory harvest reporting? What changes could be made to predator management? What was the reason for changing R1 to cow elk harvest only on private land? How can sportsmen/women be more involved with FWP ensuring our voices are heard? And many more issues.
