You may have heard before that when you forgive someone, you should do it for yourself. That sentiment can seem misleading, as many people believe that forgiveness is all about the other person. Yet forgiveness truly is about releasing your anger or resentment for your own good. But what if you are the other person in this scenario? What if, instead of resentment or anger, you are experiencing guilt and shame?
