When my clients have a hard time with baby descending through the pelvis, it’s often not because their baby is “too big” and usually because their pelvis is not mobile enough to move the way it needs to. As a Spinning Babies and Body Ready Method trained doula, I can put you in the funkiest positions imaginable during birth — but if your body has never accessed them it is unlikely your ligaments and muscles are going to be mobile enough for your pelvis to shift correctly and allow them to work their magic ✨

Here are three super simple floor stretches to do to help mobilize the ligaments and muscles around the pelvis and aid in an easier birth!

And sometimes even as someone’s doula, I don’t know the reason they are uncomfortable with something! OR they don’t even have a reason they don’t want to — they just don’t. But I don’t need to know because trauma informed care is listening to what is most comfortable for them, educating them on any risks to those choices, and then supporting them and advocating for them to follow their intuition.

I was so eager when I was a baby doula and didn’t take proper care of myself and it led to burnout QUICK. The best way to care for families is to have some care for yourself so you can stay in the work longer and continue to learn and bring more expertise into your work.

Mothers are people too!! — and should never feel guilty for still having personal hobbies and needs outside of motherhood
