shared this disclaimer about SSRIs and I wanted to share it again because it is so important! You have to stay hydrated, apply sunscreen, and hide in the shade if it’s too hot outside. This is extremely important for your mental health.

How can vitamin D improve your mental health? Here are 8 ways vitamin D can improve your overall wellbeing.
1 - Stress relief
2 - Energy and Mood Booster
Vitamin D improves the “feel good” hormones, like serotonin, produced in your body.
3 - Improves sleep
4 - More motivated
Dopamine, or the “motivation molecule”, is activated through vitamin D which helps us be more motivated.
5 - Improve overall quality of life
6 - Reduces risk of certain diseases like arthritis, heart disease, and certain cancers
7 - Improves mental health like mood regulation and less risk of depression
8 - Boosts your Immune system

You get vitamin D through certain foods: milk, cheese, egg yolks, butter, fish like salmon and tuna, and orange juice. You also get vitamin D through a lot of sun exposure.

When a person has low levels of vitamin d, they often have symptoms similar to depression. The symptoms you can have are mood changes, tiredness, loss of interest in people and activities, suicidal ideation, anxiety, little to no appetite, weight gain or loss, and insomnia. It is important to get your vitamin D levels checked, so you can adequately resolve any symptoms you may be having.

How to treat vitamin d deficiency
-increase your time in the sun daily
-increase your food intake that has vitamin d
-take vitamin d supplements

Gratitude is showing thankfulness for what you have instead of what you lack. It is a feeling of appreciation generated from within. Practicing gratitude is beneficial in many ways because it improves physical and psychological health, even people with mental health problems. Being grateful helps people to feel less pain and stress, struggle less with sleep issues, have healthier immune systems, enjoy stronger relationships, and improve academically and professionally. Grateful people are less likely to struggle with mental health issues.

Here are 5 ways to foster Gratitude:

Keep a Gratitude Journal:
-Write down 3 things going well for you and note the cause
-Write thank-you notes to others
-Make a mental list each night of what you are grateful for
-When faced with a difficult situation, try to find the things to be grateful for

I know that the image attached to this post might really resonate with some people who are the first generation cycle-breakers. I am in awe of you and what you do every day. It takes so much to be the first one to stand up and say that you are going to do something differently. Take this image and what it means to you and hold it close and be encouraged and find any meaning at it that it means for you.
