Our September meeting was a real treat! Virginia Gibson Schroeder, our oldest member, shared stories from her long, wonderful life. She opened by saying that her membership in Mu Phi Epsilon was one the most gratifying things in her life. We recorded her presentation so that you, too, could be inspired and energized. Enjoy!

We were honored to have Dr. Ian Wiese (Lambda, Boston Alumni) here in Kansas City to take part in the UMKC Conservatory Composition Symposium June 14th - 19th. One of his works was featured on the final concert, which was recorded. As soon as the recording is posted, we'll be sure to link to it.

Ian began his stay with Alumni member Julia Scherer, who came downstairs to breakfast to the sounds of Ian in the next room doing a remote coaching session with an ensemble preparing one of his pieces. Fascinating!

That evening, Julia hosted a gathering for area Mu Phi members to hang out with Ian and introduce him to Kansas City BBQ. Yum!

Unfortunately, no one thought to take photos at that gathering. It only occurred to Julia to take some photos when she picked Ian up to take him to the airport, so here's one from the hotel parking lot and one from the airport. 😄

It was fun having you with us Ian! We can't wait to hear your latest compositions!
