While seated, you can work out your arms and shoulders, but if you did the same exercise while standing, you would also engage your core!

Similarly, minimizing your points of contact with the ground works out your core region, such as a one-handed plank pose, or balancing on one foot while doing biceps curls.

Core strength is essential to all movement in your body.
